    摘要: A sample carrier comprising a lower support wall, a base joined to or in fixed proximity to a bottom end of the lower support wall, and sample tube receiving areas in fixed proximity to the lower support wall for receiving and holding a plurality of sample tubes in substantially vertical orientations. The sample carrier further comprising a blocking wall joined to a top end of the support wall which extends laterally over portions of sample tubes held by the sample carrier, thereby limiting vertical movement of the sample tubes during automated sampling procedures. The contents of sample tubes held by the sample carrier can be accessed by a robotic pipetting device. Additionally, a drip shield comprising a cover plate, a pair of through-holes for accessing sample tubes held by a the sample carrier, and a depending runner for maintaining the sample carrier on a sample carousel.

    摘要: An automatic chemical analysis apparatus having a plurality of separate reagent containers placed inside of an annular array of reaction cuvettes. The reagent containers are arranged so as to be selectively accessible for dispensing a required reagent into a respective cuvette. At a predetermined position on the circular path of the cuvette array, a given sample is dispensed from a sample supply into a cuvette. During transporting of the cuvette containing a sample on a reaction path, a reagent from a selected of the reagent containers placed within the annular reaction cuvette array is dispensed by a suitable dispenser which can swing between the annular array of cuvettes and the reagent containers. After the reaction is completed, while the cuvette is advanced in the reaction line, the reactant containers are subjected to a photometric measurement at a measurement station located past the reagent dispensing position on the reaction line. Then the cuvette is returned through a washing station to an original position of the annular reaction line for receiving a new sample.

    摘要: An analysis system has a first storage area in which sample and reagent materials are stored at an appropriate storage temperature and a second (analysis) area which is maintained at a controlled and stabilized higher temperature at which the analysis is to be performed. A plurality of analysis cuvettes of long thermal time constant material are stored adjacent the second storage area for time intervals sufficient for those analysis cuvettes to be equilibrated to the analysis temperature. A transport mechanism in the second storage area is adapted to transport the equilibrated analytical cuvettes sequentially from the supply station to a load station, then to an analysis station and then to a used cuvette station, and a transfer mechanism is arranged for movement between the first and second storage areas for transferring quantities of sample and reagent from the first storage for loading into the equilibrated analytical cuvette at the loading station in the second storage area.
