摘要: A motor oil performance-enhancing engine treatment oil additive formulated for addition to conventional motor oil to improve the lubricating properties of the engine oil and enhance the performance of the engine.The novel engine additive comprises a synergistic combination of chemical constituents including an oil soluble molybdenum additive, polyalphaolefin, diester, polytetrafluoroethylene, dispersant inhibitor containing zinc dithiophosphate, mineral oil base stock, viscosity index improvers, and borate ester used in combination with a conventional crankcase lubricant at about a 20 to about a 25% volume/percent. The improved performance of the engine additive in comparison with conventional crankcase lubricants is attributable to the synergistic effect of optimizing the design parameters for each of the individual chemical constituents and combining the chemical constituents according to the present invention to obtain surprisingly good results including improved: wear, oxidation resistance, viscosity stability, engine cleanliness, fuel economy, cold starting, and inhibition of acid formation. The novel engine additive formulation comprises a synergistic combination of compounds, ingredients, or components, each of which alone is insufficient to give the desired properties, but when used in concert give outstanding lubricating properties. Of course, it is contemplated that additional components may be added to the engine additive formulation to enhance specific properties for special applications.

摘要: This invention relates to a composition comprising at least one sulfurized overbased product made by contacting (A) at least one overbased product or (A') at least one boron-containing overbased product with (B) sulfur and/or at least one source of sulfur; said overbased product (A) or boron-containing overbased product (A') being made using at least one acidic material, with the proviso that when said acidic material is other than SO.sub.2 or a source of SO.sub.2 said overbased product (A) or boron-containing overbased product (A') is contacted with an effective amount of SO.sub.2 or a source of SO.sub.2 to displace at least part of said acidic material. In one embodiment the sulfurized overbased product is an overbased thiosulfate or a boron-containing overbased thiosulfate. In one embodiment, the sulfurized overbased product is made using the overbased product (A) and the composition further comprises at least one non-sulfurized boron-containing overbased product. The sulfurized overbased products are thermally stable and are useful as extreme pressure (EP) and/or anti-wear agents or antioxidants for use in lubricants, functional fluids and normally liquid fuels. The functional fluids can be oil-based, water-oil emulsions or water-based. The sulfurized overbased products are particularly suitable for use as EP and/or anti-wear agents for use in gear lubricants and cutting fluids. In one embodiment lubricating compositions are provided that pass both the L-37 High Torque Test and the L-42 High Speed Shock Test without the necessity of employing phosphorus and sulfurized olefin anti-wear systems in their formulation.

摘要: A lubricant composition for ammunition is an admixture of (a) molybdenum disulfide, (b) a fluorotelomer lubricant, and (c) a solvent medium which is deposited onto (d) a corn cob particle absorbent. Metal particles such as BBs or other grit may be included in the composition for use with copper jacketed bullets. The lubricant composition is deposited on the bullets by tumbling or vibrating the bullets, or otherwise contacting the bullets with the lubricant composition; drying the bullets and, thereafter contacting the bullets with untreated corn cob particle.
