摘要: Method and devices using lasers to reduce reflection of transparent solids in the optical spectrum, coatings and devices employing transparent solids are disclosed. The lasers are used to shape surfaces of the transparent solid materials by raising the temperature of the material to around the melting temperature, and thereby generate desired target nanostructure two-dimensional antireflection flection pattern arrays on the surfaces. The laser fluence value, wavelength, repetition rate, pulse duration and number of consecutive laser pulses per focus spot are selected, and a desired focus spot distribution on the surface of the transparent solid material is identified. The transparent solid material is relatively translated to generate the desired nanostructure two-dimensional pattern array.

摘要: In an optical element, diffractive focusing features and diffractive anti-reflection features can extend into a first surface of a body, such as by etching. The diffractive focusing features can have a same first depth that is greater than a wavelength, and can be located in a first area to have a duty cycle that varies over the first area. The diffractive anti-reflection features can have a same second depth that is less than the wavelength. In some examples, an effective refractive index of the diffractive focusing features and the diffractive anti-reflection features, together, can be less than or equal to a specified value, such as 120% of a square root of a refractive index of a material of the body. In other examples, the diffractive anti-reflection features can be located in the first area to have a duty cycle that is constant over the first area.

摘要: A method for producing a plastic element provided with fine surface roughness is provided. In the method, etching of a surface of the plastic element is performed separately in a first step and in a second step, in the first step, fine roughness having a predetermined average value of pitch in the range from 0.05 to 1 micrometer is generated on the surface through reactive ion etching in an atmosphere of a first gas; and in the second step, an average value of depth of the fine roughness generated in the first step is adjusted to a predetermined value in the range from 0.15 to 1.5 micrometers while the predetermined average value of pitch is substantially maintained through reactive ion etching in an atmosphere of a second gas, reactivity to the plastic element of the second gas being lower than reactivity to the plastic element of the first gas.

The diffractive surface region comprises structural features that comprise different heights in a multimodal distribution. The substrate exhibits a sparkle of 1.8. The article exhibits a first-surface average visible specular reflectance of less than 0.2% at an incident angle of 20°, and a maximum hardness of ≥8 GPa in a Berkovich Indenter Hardness Test.

摘要: Aspects relate to patterned nanostructures having a feature size not including film thickness of below 5 microns. The patterned nanostructures are made up of nanoparticles having an average particle size of less than 100 nm. A nanoparticle composition, which, in some cases, includes a binder, is applied to a substrate. A patterned mold used in concert with electromagnetic radiation function to manipulate the nanoparticle composition in forming the patterned nanostructure. In some embodiments, the patterned mold nanoimprints a pattern onto the nanoparticle composition and the composition is cured through UV or thermal energy. Three-dimensional patterned nanostructures may be formed. A number of patterned nanostructure layers may be prepared and joined together. In some cases, a patterned nanostructure may be formed as a layer that is releasable from the substrate upon which it is initially formed. Such releasable layers may be arranged to form a three-dimensional patterned nanostructure for suitable applications.
