The present disclosure relates to methods and systems to manage traffic density in a transportation system, and by doing so, maintain, in one embodiment, traffic flows near optimum levels to maximize road capacity and minimize travel times. The method includes, in one embodiment, a mechanism for vehicles to request road access from a centralized control, a queuing system that allows road access to be granted to individual vehicles over an extended period of time in a fair and organized fashion, a measurement system that allows traffic flow and density throughout the system to be determined in real-time, and an enforcement and fraud prevention mechanism to ensure that the rules and permissions imposed by the system are followed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for aligning a transfer head assembly with a substrate are disclosed. In an embodiment a pivot mount is used for generating a feedback signal in a closed-loop motion control system. In an embodiment, the pivot mount includes primary spring arms and secondary spring arms extending between a pivot platform and a base of the pivot mount. The secondary spring arms are characterized by a lower stiffness than the primary spring arms, and strain sensing elements are located along the secondary spring arms.
Abstract:
A method (201-207) for processing media specified in one or more playlists includes receiving data representing a plurality of variants of media and determining a peak bandwidth and an average bandwidth at a server device for each variant of the media, then creating a master playlist that includes a universal resource indicator (URI) and specifies the peak bandwidth and the average bandwidth for each variant. A method (221-231) at the client device can then use the peak bandwidth and the average bandwidth to determine whether to switch from one variant to another variant in the master playlist. A client device can perform this method by selecting and receiving a first media playlist which includes URIs for one or more segments of a first variant. The client device can further determine an observed bit rate during the downloading of the segments of the first variant and store media of the first variant in a buffer before displaying the media. The client device can then determine, before switching between the variants, whether the amount of data in the buffer exceeds an estimated value which is related to an estimated amount of data to be downloaded for a second variant.
Abstract:
A battery system (1) has positive (PACKP) and negative (PACKN) pack terminals, and positive (SENSEP) and negative (SENSEN) sense terminals. An electrochemical cell assembly (2) has positive and negative cell terminals. An electrically conductive power path has a positive leg (9a) that connects the positive cell terminal to the positive pack terminal, and a negative leg (9b) that connects the negative cell terminal to the negative pack terminal. A power switch circuit (5) is connected in the power path. An electrically conductive sense path separate from the power path has a positive leg (4a) that connects the positive cell terminal to the positive sense terminal, and a negative leg (4b) that connects to the negative sense terminal. A sense switch circuit (6) is connected in the sense path.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a first battery number is determined representing a battery condition of a battery of a mobile device using a predictive model, where the predictive model is configured to predict future battery conditions based on a past battery usage of the battery. A second battery number is determined representing the battery condition using a drain model, where the drain model is configured to predict a future battery discharge rate based on a past battery discharge rate. A third battery number is determined representing the battery condition based on a current battery level corresponding to a remaining life of the battery at the point in time. Power management logic performs a power management action based on the battery condition derived from at least one of the first battery number, the second battery number and the third battery number.
Abstract:
An audio system that adjusts one or more beam patterns emitted by one or more loudspeaker arrays based on the preferences of users/listeners is described. The audio system includes an audio receiver that contains a listener location estimator, a listener identifier, and a voice command processor. Inputs from the listener location estimator, the listener identifier, and the voice command processor are fed into an array processor. The array processor drives the one or more loudspeaker arrays to emit beam patterns into the listening area based on inputs from each of these devices. By examining the location, preferred usage settings, and voice commands from listeners, the generated beam patterns are customized to the explicit and implicit preferences of the listeners with minimal direct input. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
An anti-noise signal is produced in accordance with an active noise cancellation process (ANC), at an input of a speaker so as to control how much background noise a user can hear. Strength of the anti-noise signal is adjusted gradually, rather than abruptly, in proportion to decreasing or increasing sound pressure level (SPL) of the background noise, during inactivation or activation of the ANC process. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Abstract:
A battery cell core is hermetically sealed inside a casing, with conductive paths formed in the casing that individually connect cell subsets of the core to a battery management circuit for detecting individual failing cell subsets and for changing the battery output voltage by forming series/parallel connections between the cell subsets. In one version, the casing has a metal can with an opening of the can being sealed by a non-conductive cap that is sealed and bonded along its periphery to the can walls. In one aspect, the cap has edge metallization along its periphery where it is sealed to the can walls. In another aspect, the conductive paths are formed in the non-conductive cap. Various other embodiments are also described and claimed.
