Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for controlling a hybrid vehicle in an emergency situation. Said hybrid vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine, a rechargeable electric energy storage system, and an electrical motor drive system. Said method comprising the actions of: detecting a failure of a control unit for controlling the electrical motor drive system, disconnecting the rechargeable electric energy storage system from the hybrid vehicle, limiting the maximum speed of the internal combustion engine from a first RPM value to a second RPM value. The invention also relates to an apparatus for controlling a hybrid vehicle in an emergency situation and a computer program storable on a computer readable medium, comprising a program code for use in an on-board- diagnosis method for controlling a hybrid vehicle in an emergency situation.
Abstract:
A control system for a vehicle, having drive sections (104, 107, 109), a power supply section (101, 103, 107, 109) including an electric power storage unit to supply power to the drive section, includes a demanded power calculating section (1) calculating a demanded drive power required for driving the vehicle, an allowable drive electric power output calculating section (2) calculating allowable drive electric power output of the electric power storage unit necessary for compensating a delayed response of the power supply section with respect to a variation in the demanded power, an available electric power output calculating section (3) calculating available electric power output of the electric power storage unit on the basis of a stage of charge of the electric power storage unit, and a target power calculating unit (4, 7, 9) calculating target power to be produced by the power supply section on the basis of the demanded drive power, allowable drive electric power output and available electric power output.
Abstract:
A hybrid vehicle includes an internal combustion engine, a rotating electric machine, an electric storage device, a power supply device, and a controller. The controller executes switching control to switch from a first electric power supply to a second electric power supply by starting the internal combustion engine. The first electric power supply is the supply of electric power from the electric storage device to the electric device. The second electric power supply is the supply of electric power from the rotating electric machine to the electric device. The controller controls the power supply device and the internal combustion engine such that the internal combustion engine is started with the first electric power supply being continued during the switching control.
Abstract:
A method of actively discharging a common bus (116) of a machine (100) having an engine (102), a generator (112), a traction motor (124) and one or more auxiliary devices (126) is provided. The method may monitor a speed of the engine (102) with respect to a first threshold, monitor a voltage of the common bus (116) with respect to a second threshold, and enable one or more of the generator (112), the motor (124) and the auxiliary devices (126) if the engine speed falls below the first threshold and the voltage exceeds the second threshold so as to discharge voltage from the common bus (116).
