The present disclosure concerns engine lubricant compositions including at least one base oil, at least one viscosity index improver polymer and at least one polyalkylene glycol, obtained by polymerization or copolymerization of alkylene oxides comprising from 3 to 8 carbon atoms, including at least one butylene oxide, the quantity of polyalkylene glycol being from 1 to 28% by mass with respect to the total mass of lubricant composition. Using at least one polyalkylene glycol, obtained by polymerization or copolymerization of alkylene oxides including from 3 to 8 carbon atoms, further including at least one butylene oxide in a base oil improves engine cleanliness while not increasing, or indeed while decreasing, the consumption of petrol or diesel fuels by the engine.

A lubricant member of a preferred embodiment of the invention is formed, into a stick-shaped body longer in a lengthwise direction than in a diametrical direction, of a mixture including at least a polyamide resin as a thermoplastic resin, an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, and lubricant oil. A film made mainly of the polyamide resin is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the lubricant member. At the inner side of the film, fibrous crystals of the polyamide resin and the ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene extend in the lengthwise direction of the lubricant member, and multiple pores are formed. With this structure, the lubricant member is produced with excellent workability without sacrificing the mechanical strength and the lubricating property.

The object of the present invention is to provide a metal surface treatment agent which improves the press molding workability of metal materials, and which can form a coating film that is superior in terms of at least one of moisture resistance and coating film stripping characteristics. The metal surface treatment agent of the present invention comprises (A) a copolymer which comprises (a) styrene and (b) a vinyl compound with carboxyl groups that is copolymerizable with styrene, and (B) a lubricating agent. The metal surface treatment agent is characterized by the fact that the weight ratio of component (a) to component (b) in the aforementioned polymer (A), i.e., (a)/(b) (weight ratio), is in the range of 1/9 to 9/1, the proportion of (a)null(b) in the aforementioned polymer (A) is 30 to 100 weight %, and the weight ratio of (B) to (A)null(B) is 2 to 30 weight %.

A method for improving the low temperature fluidity of lubricating oil compositions based on addition to lubricating oils of a mixture of selected high molecular weight and low molecular weight alkyl (meth)acrylate copolymers is disclosed. Combinations of low molecular weight alkyl (meth)acrylate polymers containing zero to 25 weight percent (C16-C24)alkyl (meth)acrylate with high molecular weight alkyl (meth)acrylate polymers containing 25 to 70 weight percent (C16-C24)alkyl (meth)acrylate are especially effective at satisfying different aspects of low temperature fluidity properties simultaneously for a broad range of base oils.
