Abstract:
Concentrates containing specific functionalised diblock copolymers serve as effective additives for improving the cold flow behaviour of fuels and oils, the copolymers being derived from a terminally-unsaturated intermediate polymer obtained via a metallocene process involving hydrogen.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for improving the efficiency with which fuel is burnt in a fuel burning apparatus, particularly all internal combustion engine, comprising dispersing an amount of at least one particulate lanthanide oxide, particularly cerium oxide, in the fuel. This invention further relates to tablets, capsules, compositions and liquid fuel additives suitable for dispersing a lanthanide oxide in fuel.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a fuel oil composition comprising stabilized Renewable Fuel feed stocks or the blends of Petroleum based fuels with such Renewable Fuels. Also described herein are additive compositions for increasing stability of Renewable Fuel feed stocks or the blends of Petroleum based fuels with such Renewable Fuels.
Abstract:
The frictional pressure drop, or drag, of hydrocarbon fluids flowing through pipelines of various lengths is preferentially lowered by dissolving therein polymeric drag reducer suspensions exhibiting bi- or multimodal particle size distributions. Drag reducers having larger particle sizes dissolve more slowly than drag reducers having smaller particle sizes, and vice versa. By using at least bi-modal particle size distributions, the drag reduction effect may be distributed more uniformly over the length of the pipeline where smaller sized particles dissolve sooner after injection (upstream in the pipeline), and larger sized particles dissolve later (further along the pipeline). Drag reducer suspensions with bi- or multimodal particle size distributions may be made by suspension polymerization.
Abstract:
A polymeric viscosity index improver that includes a hydrogenated block copolymer having at least one controlled distribution block copolymer having a minimized crystallinity is provided. An oil composition including at least a base oil and the aforementioned viscosity index improver is also provided. A polymeric concentrate including the aforementioned viscosity index improver is further provided.

The jet fuel compositions comprise a jet fuel and at least one of the following additives: (i) a copolymer of ethylene and at least one unsaturated ester selected from: vinyl esters having at least 5 carbon atoms, alkyl (meth)acrylates, di-alkyl fumarates and di-alkyl maleates; (ii) a copolymer of ethylene and alkene; (iii) a copolymer of ethylene and less than 15 mole percent of vinyl acetate; (iv) a nucleator; (v) a wax; (vi) a substantially branched alkyl phenol formaldehyde condensate; (vii) a comb polymer; and (viii) a polar nitrogen compound.
Abstract:
Various vinylidene-containing polymers are obtained in the presence of a single-site catalyst. For example, the polymers include ethylene/isobutene copolymer, ethylene/propylene/isobutene terpolymer, ethylene/styrene/isobutene terpolymer, ethylene/&agr;-methyl-styrene/isobutene terpolymer, propylene/isobutene copolymer, styrene/isobutene copolymer, and &agr;-methyl-styrene/isobutene copolymer. These polymers may be used to formulate lubricant oils.
Abstract:
Compositions comprising an ethylene/vinyl acetate or propionate/vinyl branched carboxylate terpolymer improve the low temperature properties of fuel oils.
Abstract:
A method of impeding the evaporation of a solvent by at least partially dissolving a solvent soluble polymer in the solvent in sufficient amounts so as to impede the evaporation of the solvent is disclosed. In one embodiment the soluble polymer may be selected from the group including oligomeric or polymeric homo-, co-, and terpolymers wherein a vinylcyclohexyl moiety comprises at least 10% weight of the polymer. Another aspect is generally directed to a method of storing a solvent including placing the solvent in a suitable container for storage, and dissolving in at least a portion of the solvent sufficient amounts of a soluble polymer so as to impede the evaporation of the solvent. Also described are compositions including a solvent and a polymer dissolved in the solvent so as to impede evaporation of the solvent.
