摘要： The present invention provides transition-metal-catalyst-based methods for the arylation and vinylation of activated methyl, methylene, and methine carbons with aryl halides, vinyl halides, and the like. The methods of the invention provide several improvements over existing methods, including the ability to synthesize efficiently and under mild conditions α-aryl and α-vinyl products from a wide range of starting materials, including ketones, esters, hydrazones, and imines. Furthermore, the methods of the invention may be used in an asymmetric sense, i.e. to produce enantiomerically-enriched chiral α-aryl and α-vinyl products.

摘要： N,N-disubstituted amines in which the amino nitrogen atom is bound to the carbon atom of an aromatic ring disubstituted in the positions ortho to the carbon atom, are prepared by allowing a primary amine and a compound in which an ortho, ortho-disubstituted aromatic compound carrying a nucleofuge substituent, to react in a basic environment in the presence of a catalytic palladium(0) complex and a ligand, the ratio of palladium complex to ligand being greater than at least 1:1. A typical embodiment involves the reaction of 2-methyl-6-ethylphenyl-trifluoromethylsulfonate and (S)-1-methoxy-2-aminopropane in the presence of bis(dibenzylideneacetone)palladium, tri-tert.-butylphosphine, and sodium tert.-butoxide to yield (S)-N-(1-methoxyprop-2-yl)-2-methyl-6-ethylphenylamine.

摘要： A process of preparing an organic amine having at least one unsaturated group, such as an arylamine, involving contacting an unsaturated organic sulfonate, such as an aryl sulfonate, with a reactant amine, such as an alkyl or aryl amine, in the presence of a base and a transition metal catalyst under reaction conditions. The transition metal catalyst contains a Group 8 metal and a chelating ligand, for example a Group 15-substituted arylene or Group 15-substituted metallocene, such as 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-2,2'-binaphthyl or 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-ferrocene, respectively. The aryl sulfonate can be prepared from a phenol and sulfonating agent.
