Abstract:
The present invention provides optimized transfection reagents comprising mixtures of cationiclipoids. In particular, the present invention provides DNA delivery vehicles based on identifying the optimal hydrophobicity of novel cationic phospholipid derivatives that, alone or in combination, form complexes with DNA (lipoplexes) and exhibit enhanced transfection activity.
Abstract:
Alterations in the genetic content of a cell underlie many human diseases, including cancers. A method called Digital Karyotyping provides quantitative analysis of DNA copy number at high resolution. This approach involves the isolation and enumeration of short sequence tags from specific genomic loci. Analysis of human cancer cells using this method identified gross chromosomal changes as well as amplifications and deletions, including regions not previously known to be altered. Foreign DNA sequences not present in the normal human genome could also be readily identified. Digital Karyotyping provides a broadly applicable means for systematic detection of DNA copy number changes on a genomic scale.
Abstract:
Compact portable wireless devices and antennas for compact portable wireless devices are provided. The compact portable wireless device may be part of a piece of sports equipment. A compact portable wireless device may include a transceiver module that is used in communicating with equipment such as a handheld electronic device. An antenna for a compact portable wireless device can have a relatively small size while exhibiting high efficiency. A planar ground structure for the antenna may be formed from a circuit board on which integrated circuits have been mounted. A curved inverted-F resonating element may be attached to the ground structure. A battery may be provided to power the compact portable wireless device. The battery may be used as a parasitic antenna element.
Abstract:
A drawing pin having functionality of drawing back automatically is provided, which includes a containing portion and a pin portion. The pin portion is disposed in the containing portion when the pin portion is at a first location, and an appropriate part of the pin portion is exposed outside the containing portion when the pin portion is at a second location. The containing portion provides a resilient force that enables the pin portion to draw back from the second location to the first location automatically when the pin portion moves from the first location to the second location.
Abstract:
A low profile semiconductor package is disclosed including at least first and second stacked semiconductor die mounted to a substrate. The first semiconductor die may be electrically coupled to the substrate with a plurality of stitches in a forward ball bonding process. The second semiconductor die may in turn be electrically coupled to the first semiconductor die using a second set of stitches bonded between the die bond pads of the first and second semiconductor die. The second set of stitches may each include a lead end having a stitch ball that is bonded to the bond pads of the second semiconductor die. The tail end of each stitch in the second set of stitches may be wedge bonded directly to lead end of a stitch in the first set of stitches.
Abstract:
Antennas are provided for portable electronic devices. A portable electronic device may have a port that receives a wireless communications adapter. The adapter may be used to provide wireless functionality for the portable electronic device. The adapter may contain a chip antenna that serves as an antenna resonating element. A printed circuit board within the adapter may contain conductor that has been patterned to form a ground plane for the antenna. The portable electronic device may have a conductive structure such as a housing portion. The conductive structure of the portable electronic device serves as a parasitic antenna element that improves antenna efficiency. The portable electronic device may be a handheld electronic device with music player functionality that communicates with a compact portable wireless device in a piece of sports equipment.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a kitchen wastes disposing system comprising a wet solid material crusher connected on a sewer, wherein the crusher includes an automatic switch controlled by water flow in the sewer and a hand switch, wherein the two switches are connected in series, the sewer is connected with a sewage disposing system, wherein the crusher includes a shell, an upper blade set, a lower blade set and a rotating shaft, wherein the upper blade set and the lower blade set are fixed the rotating shaft and in the shell, wherein the upper blade set and the lower blade set includes a plurality of horizontal blades. The system can crush the kitchen solid waste and other similar solid wastes and send them into the sewage disposing system together with the sewage, thereby simplifying the procedure and reducing the cost or disposing solid wastes.
Abstract:

The pivot set includes a pivot seat and a pivot extending from the pivot seat. The pivot seat is detachably secured to the first body. The pivot rotatably extends into the second body. The torsion spring includes a fixing end thereof fixed to the second body, and a sliding end thereof slidably pressing against the first body.
Abstract:
Increased yields of middle distillate and jet fuel and increased catalyst activity are obtained in a hydrocracking process by the use of a catalyst containing a beta zeolite and a Y zeolite having a unit cell size from 24.37 to 24.43 angstrom. The catalyst has a relatively high amount of Y zeolite relative to beta zeolite.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a symbol timing synchronization system for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system. According to the invention, the symbol timing synchronization system utilizes a shift register and a comparing device to determine whether the symbol of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system has the inter-symbol interference. When the symbol has the inter-symbol interference, a compensator is utilized to compensate the interfered symbol. Therefore, depending on the symbol timing synchronization system of the invention, the symbol timing error and the inter-symbol interference can be essentially removed so as to improve the system performance.
