    摘要: A heating system and method for heating a metal strip to within a predetermined temperature tolerance range while the metal strip serially travels through a heating system. The heating system has at least one preceding heating section, at least one induction heating section, and at least one following heating sections, with the heating sections being serially arranged. The metal strip is heated to below the Curie point of the metal strip in the preceding heating section. Next, the metal strip is heated to, at a maximum, approximately the Curie point in the induction heating section. Then, the metal strip is heated to above the Curie point and to within the predetermined temperature tolerance range in the following heating section.

    摘要: A hand-held groover for forming grooves, bevels, etc. in architectural insulation board comprises a resistive cutting blade, a 25 KHz. oscillator, operated by full-wave rectified line current and connected to the cutting blade through a light-weight transformer. The oscillator delivers to the heating element a sequence of electrical pulses synchronized with the line current frequency, each having a duration of 1/120 second. Each pulse consists of plural oscillations at 25 KHz., so that the heating current in the blade is essentially an amplitude-modulated 25 KHz. current. The modulating pulses are selected from the continuous train of 120 Hz. pulses by an adjustable triggering circuit, to adjust the time interval between pulses and thereby control the temperature of the heating element.

    摘要: An inductor for inductively heating bearing surfaces of a crankshaft is machined from a block of copper to provide parallel, closely spaced and integrally joined inductor block portions having machined coolant passages therein. The machined inductor is rigidly supported between juxtaposed side plates having portions of the inner surfaces thereof machined to provide recesses which receive the inductor and in which the inductor is clampingly engaged between the plates. Positioning fingers are supported by the side plates to accurately position the active face of the inductor relative to a bearing surface to be heated, and tubular leads extend upwardly between the side plates for connecting the inductor across a source of power. An inlet conduit for coolant extends laterally between the side plates, and the tubular leads provide outlets for coolant flow from the inductor.
