The process for making extra high voltage cable insulation is improved by using a composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 95 to 99.9% of an ethylene-based polymer; (B) 0.2 to 2.5% peroxide; (C) 0.01 to 0.5% of a sulfur-containing first antioxidant having at least one —S(CH2)2C02R group, wherein R is C6 to C20 alkyl; (D) 0.001 to 0.009%) of a sulfur-containing second antioxidant that does not contain a —S(CH2)2C02R group, wherein R is a C6 to C20 alkyl; (E) Optionally, an organic nitrogenous base; and (F) Optionally, a phenolic third antioxidant that does not contain a —S(CH2)2C02R group, wherein R is a C6 to C20 alkyl.

Cross-linkable polymeric compositions having an ethylene-based polymer, an organic peroxide, and a polyallyl cross-linking coagent, where the polyallyl cross-linking coagent and the organic peroxide are present in amounts sufficient to provide an allyl-to-active oxygen molar ratio of at least 1.6, based on the allyl content of the polyallyl cross-linking coagent and the active oxygen content of the organic peroxide. Such cross-linkable polymeric compositions can be employed in forming coated conductors.

The invention provides a composition comprising at least the following components: A) a first composition comprising a first ethylene-based interpolymer; and where the first composition has a density less than, or equal to, 0.91 g/cc, and a melt index (I2) from 6.0 to 20.0 g/10 min; B) optionally, at least one filler that is capable of being excited by an alternating electromagnetic field at a frequency greater than, or equal to, 10 MHz; C) at least one flame retardant selected from the following: i) from 30.0 to 50.0 wt % of one or more non-halogen, inorganic flame retardant compounds, based on the weight of the composition; or ii) from 8.0 to 30.0 wt % of one or more halogen-containing flame retardant compounds, based on the weight of the composition; and D) at least one polar polymer.

Such polymeric compositions can exhibit lower coefficients of friction when compared to polymeric compositions containing either silicone or fatty acid amide alone. Such polymeric compositions are suitable for use in various articles of manufacture, including, for example, wire and cable jackets.
