Abstract:
A fuel composition exhibiting improved anti-static properties, comprises a liquid fuel which contains less than 500 parts per million by weight sulfur; 0.001 to 1 ppm of a hydrocarbyl monoamine or hydrocarbyl-substituted poly(alkyleneamine); and 10 to 500 ppm of at least one fatty acid containing 8 to 24 carbon atoms, or an ester thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to marking a petroleum product with a silent marker, which is an ester derivative of fluorescent material, and to detecting the same. In accordance with the present invention, the silent marker may be detected by measuring the fluorescence generated from the selective hydrolysis of the ester moiety under enzymatic action.
Abstract:
The invention provides a lubricity additive in the form of an ester of an acid and an alcohol, wherein the acid is an aromatic mono-, di- or polyhydric, mono-, di- or polycarboxylic acid or mixture thereof, which may be alkylated and/or alkoxylated and wherein the alkyl and/or alkoxy groups, if any, are independently selected from groups having from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, characterised in that (a) the alcohol is glycerol, and (b) the mole percent of acid groups in the lubricity additive is less than 10%, based on the total of acid and ester groups. The invention also provides a process for preparing the lubricity additive, and a middle distillate fuel oil having a sulphur concentration of 0.2% by weight or less, and a minor portion of the lubricity additive.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a diesel fuel composition comprising a major amount of a base fuel and a relatively minor amount of at least one chemical component other than that generated in a refinery process stream which component is miscible with the base fuel in such proportions that the T30 temperature of the resultant composition is in the range from 205-240° C. The control of the T30 temperature within the specified range by blending with the minor component results in a significant reduction in particulate emissions.
