Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for indexing of nucleic acid, e.g., for use in conjunction with sequencing. The techniques include generating indexed nucleic acid fragments from an individual sample, whereby the index sequence incorporated into each index site of the nucleic acid fragment is selected from a plurality of distinguishable of index sequences and such that the population of generated nucleic acid fragments represents each index sequence from the plurality. In this manner, the generated indexed nucleic acid fragments from a single sample are indexed with a diverse mix of index sequences that reduce misassignment due to index read errors associated with low sequence diversity.

Abstract: Authentication systems and methods using orientation sensor-enabled payment cards are disclosed herein where a server receives an authorization request from a web server or an electronic terminal. The server then transmits an instruction to the orientation sensor to determine whether the payment card has an orientation that is consistent with a predetermined orientation. When the payment card has an orientation consistent with the predetermined orientation, the server executes a first authentication protocol. However, if the payment card has an orientation that is not consistent with the predetermined orientation, the server executes a second authentication protocol that is more restrictive than the first authentication protocol.

Abstract: A system may include sensors that may acquire health data related to an individual. The system may also include a processor that may receive trip data associated with a current location of the individual and a destination location for the individual, traffic condition data associated with routes between the current location and the destination location, and weather related data associated with the routes. The processor may also receive the health data from the sensors and determine whether the individual is associated with a driver assessment score above a threshold based on the trip data, the traffic condition data, the weather data, the health data, or any combination thereof. The processor may then send an activation signal to a vehicle control system in response to the driver assessment score being above the threshold, such that the activation signal may enable the vehicle control system to control operations of a vehicle.

Abstract: A control system for a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a controller. The controller is configured to control the HVAC system to condition an air flow based on first feedback from a first sensor of the HVAC system, receive second feedback from a second sensor of the HVAC system, and control the HVAC system to condition the air flow based on the second feedback instead of the first feedback when the first feedback from the first sensor being no longer available. The first feedback is indicative of a first operating parameter of the HVAC system, and the second feedback is indicative of a second operating parameter of a refrigerant flowing through the HVAC system.

Each sensing line is configured to receive and monitor an air sample. Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, a processing device includes a heated internal wall and a rotating rod positioned within an interior space formed by the heated internal wall. The rotating rod may be hollow and act as an internal heat exchanger. The processing device also includes a plurality of baffles spaced apart from one another along the rotating rod and extending away from the rotating rod towards the heated internal wall. The processing device also includes at least one wiper or roller coupled to an edge of at least one of the plurality of baffles or porous, packed basket, coupled to the rotating rod and that contacts the heated internal wall while rotating together with the rotating rod. In another embodiment, a processing device may be used to adsorb reactive gases into a liquid phase while heat is exchanged.
