A catalyst for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions is disclosed. The catalyst can comprise ceria-alumina particles having a ceria phase present in a weight percent of the composite in the range of about 20% to about 80% on an oxide basis, an alkaline earth metal component supported on the ceria-alumina particles, wherein the CeO2 is present in the form of crystallites that are hydrothermally stable and have an average crystallite size less than 160 Å after aging at 950° C. for 5 hours in 2% O2 and 10% steam in N2.

A lean NOx trap for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions, such as the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO), and the trapping and reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) is disclosed. Nitrogen oxide storage catalysts can comprise a layer on a substrate including ceria-alumina particles having a ceria phase present in a weight percent of the composite in the range of about 20% to about 80% on an oxide basis, an alkaline earth metal component supported on the ceria-alumina particles, wherein the CeO2 is present in the form of crystallites that are hydrothermally stable and have an average crystallite size less than 130 Å after aging at 950° C. for 5 hours in 2% O2 and 10% steam in N2.

The application provides articles, systems, and methods for adsorbing and desorbing nitrogen oxides (NOx) at desired temperatures. The catalytic article comprises a NOx adsorber composition comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) component disposed on or impregnated in a support material, and a substrate, wherein the catalytic article further comprises a magnetic material capable of inductive heating in response to an applied alternating electromagnetic field. The catalytic article further comprises a conductor associated therewith for receiving current and generating an alternating electromagnetic field in response thereto, wherein the conductor is positioned such that the generated alternating electromagnetic field is applied to at least a portion of the magnetic material. This field can inductively heat the magnetic material to heat the NOx adsorber composition to desorb the NOx from the NOx adsorber composition.

The present disclosure provides Low Temperature NOx-Absorber (LT-NA) catalyst compositions, catalyst articles, and an emission treatment system for treating an exhaust gas, each including the LT-NA catalyst compositions. Further provided are methods for reducing a NOx level in an exhaust gas stream using the LT-NA catalyst articles. In particular, the LT-NA catalyst compositions include a first zeolite, a first palladium component, and a plurality of platinum nanoparticles. The LT-NA catalyst compositions exhibit enhanced regeneration efficiency with respect to NOx adsorption capacity, even after hydrothermal aging.

The present invention provides an oxidation catalyst composition suitable for at least partial conversion of gaseous hydrocarbon emissions, e.g., methane. The oxidation catalyst composition includes at least one platinum group metal (PGM) component supported onto a porous zirconia-containing material that provides an effect on hydrocarbon conversion activity. The porous zirconia-containing material is at least 90% by weight in the monoclinic phase. Furthermore, the PGM component can comprise at least one platinum group metal in the form of colloidally deposited nanoparticles. The oxidation catalyst composition can be used in the treatment of emissions from lean compressed natural gas engines.

The present invention relates to a layered diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) comprising: a) a carrier substrate; b) a diesel oxidation catalytic material comprising b1) a first layer located on the carrier substrate, the first layer comprising palladium impregnated on a support material comprising ceria in an amount of at least 45 weight-% based on the total weight of the support material, and optionally comprising platinum; b2) a second layer located on the first layer, the second layer comprising palladium and platinum each impregnated on a support material comprising a metal oxide; wherein the platinum to palladium weight ratio of the first layer is lower than the platinum to palladium weight ratio of the second layer.

The present disclosure is directed to a Low Temperature NOx-Absorber (LT-NA) catalyst composition which exhibits NOx adsorption in a broad temperature and space velocity range, and shifts NOx desorption to a desired temperature range. In particular, the LT-NA composition includes a large pore zeolite containing a palladium component and a small or medium pore zeolite containing a palladium component. Further provided is a catalyst article including the LT-NA catalyst composition, an emission treatment system for treating an exhaust gas including the catalyst article, and methods for reducing a NOx level in an exhaust gas stream using the catalyst article.

The present invention is directed to selective catalytic reduction catalysts that combine SCR activity with NOx absorber activity. In particular, the disclosed catalytic article includes a substrate having a first and a second material disposed thereon, wherein the first material includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst composition and the second material includes a nitrogen oxides (NOx) absorber composition, wherein the NOx absorber composition does not substantially oxidize ammonia, and wherein the catalytic article is effective to abate NOx from an engine exhaust gas stream. Emission treatment systems for treating an exhaust gas including a catalytic article of the invention are provided, particularly systems that include an injector adapted for the addition of ammonia to the exhaust gas stream located upstream of the catalytic article.

The present invention relates to diesel oxidation catalyst compositions and catalyst articles, wherein the compositions and articles include a plurality of platinum group nanoparticles substantially in fully reduced form, wherein the nanoparticles have an average particle size of about 1 to about 10 nm and at least about 90% of the nanoparticles have a particle size of +/− about 2 nm of the average particle size. Such compositions can further include a refractory metal oxide material, wherein the nanoparticles and refractory metal oxide material can be combined within the same coating on a substrate or can be applied sequentially on a substrate. The nanoparticles can advantageously be substantially free of halides, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, sulfur compounds, and boron compounds. Methods of preparing and using such compositions and catalyst articles (e.g., for the treatment of diesel exhaust gas streams) are also provided herein.
