Abstract: A process for preparing a thermoplastic polymer composition or a thermoplastic polymer blend, comprising: —from 20 to 80% by weight of at least one water-moist elastomer component A containing up to 40%, preferably up to 30% by weight of residual water, —from 20 to 80% by weight of at least one thermoplastic polymer B, —from 0 to 40% by weight of at least one further polymer C, and —from 0 to 60% by weight of additive(s) D, by mixing the elastomer component A with the thermoplastic polymer B and, if present, the further polymer C and, if present, the additive(s) D in an extruder, comprising the steps of precipitating the elastomer component A, and mechanical dewatering of the elastomer component A leads to improved salt-free products.

Abstract: It was found that water-repellent thermoplastic moulding compositions, which comprise a) from 66 to 72% by weight of one or more styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers as component A, b) from 25 to 35% by weight of one or more polyacrylate rubbers as component B, c) from 1 to 5% by weight of one or more fluorine-containing polymer components C, selected from the group of polyvinyliden-difluoride and polyvinyliden-tetrafluoride, d) from 0.05 to 6% by weight of one or more further additives, which are different from C, as component D, where each of the % by weight values is based on the total weight of components A to D and these give a total of 100% by weight, have good replication properties and lead to highly water-repellent surfaces.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing styrene monomers by the depolymerisation of polystyrene in the presence of foreign polymers, such as polyolefins. Said method comprises the following steps: a) introducing a polymer composition (A) containing: I) 10 to 99.5% by weight, based on the polymer composition (A), of polystyrene (I); and II) 0.1 to 89.9% by weight of polyolefin (II); and/or III) 0.1 to 4.9% by weight of acrylonitrile-based polymer (III); and/or IV) 0.1 to 4.9% by weight of polyester (IV), into the reaction zone (R) of a pyrolysis reactor (P); b) thermal cracking the polystyrene contained in the polymer composition (A) in the reaction zone (R) of the pyrolysis reactor (P) at a temperature of between 400-1000° C., c) removing the product mixture (G) obtained from the reaction zone (R), d) cooling of the product mixture (G), and e) separating the styrene monomers from the further components.
