摘要: A process for producing an anion exchange membrane, which comprises mixing from 25 to 95 mass % of a polymer having anion exchange groups or active groups convertible to anion exchange groups (hereinafter referred to as polymer 1), and from 5 to 75 mass % of a polymer having no anion exchange groups or no active groups convertible to anion exchange groups (hereinafter referred to as polymer 2), and forming the obtained composition into a membrane, said process including a step of cross-linking an aromatic ring of a repeating unit constituting polymer 1 with an aromatic ring of another repeating unit constituting polymer 1 or with a cross-linkable site of polymer 2, and in a case where polymer 1 is a polymer having active groups convertible to anion exchange groups, a step of converting the active groups to anion exchange groups.

摘要: A number of cationic antimicrobial polymers have been synthesized by a condensation polymerization in bulk. The initial polymer formed has backbone tertiary nitrogens, which are subsequently quaternized using a suitable quaternizing agent (e.g., alkyl halide). The cationic polymers include polyamides, polycarbonates, polypolyureas and polyguanidiniums having a cationic repeat unit comprising the quaternary ammonium nitrogen as a backbone nitrogen. The cationic polymers can be active against Gram-negative, Gram-positive microbes, and/or fungi.

摘要: Water vapor transport membranes for ERV and other water vapor transport applications are provided. The membranes include a substrate and an air impermeable selective layer coated on the substrate, the selective layer including a cellulose derivative and a sulfonated polyaryletherketone. In some embodiments the sulfonated polyaryletherketone is in a cation form and/or the selective layer includes s PEEK and CA in an s PEEK:CA (wt.:wt.) ratio in the range of about 7:3 to 2:3. Methods for making such membranes are provided. The methods include applying a coating solution/dispersion to a substrate and allowing the coating solution/dispersion to dry to form an air impermeable selective layer on the substrate, the coating solution/dispersion including a cellulose derivative and a sulfonated polyarylether ketone. In some embodiments the sulfonated polyaryletherketone is in a cation form and/or the coating solution/dispersion includes s PEEK and CA in an sPEEK:CA (wt.:wt.) ratio in the range of about 7:3 to 2:3.

摘要: The present invention relates to the field of drug carrier systems and polymer therapeutics and diagnostics. It provides derivatized unimolecular polyols with a hydrophobic core moiety and a polyanionic, preferably, sulfated hydrophilic shell, N in particular to unimolecular hyperbranched sulfated polyglycerol micelles having a hydrophilic shell and a hydophrobic core. These may be used for the supramolecular encapsulation and transport of hydrophobic guest molecules into biological systems. The micelles can be applied as a drug carrier system for therapy and for diagnosis. They may also be therapeutic agents on their own. The invention also relates to preparation of said micelles.

摘要: A membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell is described. The materials for the membrane electrode assembly are formed from sulfonated polymers. A polymer dispersion ink containing the sulfonated polymer and a mixture of solvents is used to form the electrodes on the exchange membrane. The dispersion ink allows for the electrodes to be formed directly on the exchange membrane without significantly dissolving the exchange membrane.
