Abstract: A method and a system are provided for determining the torque to be delivered by the motorized joints of a lower limb exoskeleton during a walk of a subject with locomotor deficits. The method provides for setting the torque to be delivered by the motorized joints based on various phases of the walk, a step being provided for determining a state of the walk moment by moment. The determination of the state of the walk is made by detecting the distance along the sagittal plane between the two feet of the patient, so as to identify three conditions, of which a right foot condition forward, an aligned foot condition and a left foot condition forward, the motorized joints being configured to detect the distance along the sagittal plane between the two feet of the subject.

Abstract: A gait management apparatus applies stimulation to a user suffering from a neurological disease (such as Parkinson's Disease) gait dysfunction. Motion sensors are arranged to be worn by a patient, and electrical stimulation electrodes are on the legs for stimulation. A controller receives motion sensing signals, and processes these signals to generate stimulation signals for operation of the electrodes to stimulate limb movement upon detection of a gait abnormality. There may be a user actuator for user actuation of electrical stimulation, and the inputs may be a series of taps. The controller may provide signals to prevent occurrence of freezing of gait when it senses that a patient is walking or has an intention to walk. Also, it may apply stimulation at an intensity level which is insufficient for functional muscle stimulation but sufficiently high to trigger activation of efferent nerves.

Abstract: A system and method for aiding in the proper placement of ECG electrodes and other resuscitation parameters. The system includes motion sensors disposed on the ECG electrodes, and a defibrillator control system operable to interpret motion signals from the motions sensors to determine that an electrode is in motion, and thus being handled by rescuer setting up the system for use, and, based on this determination, prompt the rescuer to place the electrode in its intended location on the body of the patient. The control system may also be operable to determine relative motion and/orientation of the motion sensors and control resuscitation based on the relative motion and/orientation of the motion sensors

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a device for assisting an upper arm of a user, which includes: a support mechanism configured for supporting the device on a torso of the user; an arm link member connectable to the upper arm: a joint member coupled with the arm link member and the support mechanism, and a force generating member arranged on the support mechanism. The device, in use, transfers a load from the upper arm, through the joint member to the torso. The force generating member is configured for providing a resisting torque between the arm link member and support mechanism, and the force generating member is mechanically configured to apply a relatively larger resisting torque at a predetermined range of motion of the upper arm and to apply a relatively lesser resisting torque outside the predetermined range.

Abstract: Methods and devices are described, such as for chest compression depth measurement for CPR performed on infants and for allowing active decompression of a patient's chest during a release phase of a chest compression cycle. An anterior segment of a resilient wrap-around structure may be positioned on the patient's sternum, including a first motion sensor. A posterior segment of the resilient wrap-around structure may be positioned on the patient's back, including a second motion sensor. Chest compressions may be provided such that the first motion sensor moves in fixed relation with the patient's sternum and the second sensor moves in fixed relation with the patient's back. Active decompression may be allowed for, including the resilient wrap-around structure exerting an expansive force on the patient's chest wall during a release phase of a chest compression cycle and hastening expansion of the patient's chest during the release phase.
