Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for installing a fluid tap onto a pipe or conduit containing pressurized fluid. Debris generated by cutting a coupon from a pressurized fluid conduit is directed though the apparatus and prevented from entering the conduit. The apparatus can be removed from the newly installed air tap and reused. According to the method, pressurized fluid from the pressurized fluid system is used to wash debris generated from the coupon-cutting operation through the apparatus along a flow path that includes a collection chamber and filter. A kit is also provided and includes the apparatus and a variety of interchangeable connectors and cutting tools to allow the apparatus to be quickly configured for a wide variety of tap, valve, and pipe sizes.
Abstract:
Substituted or 6,7-ring fused 1,2,3-triazolo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives are selective ligands for GABAA receptors useful in the treatment of disorders of the central nervous system.
Abstract:
A compound of formula (I), or a salt or prodrug thereof, is described, wherein G is attached at position 3 or 4 of the piperidine ring and represents halogen or C.sub.1-6 alkoxy; R1 represents C.sub.3-6 alkenyl, C.sub.3-6 alkynyl, aryl(C.sub.1-6)alkyl or heteroaryl (C.sub.1-6)alkyl, any of which groups may be optionally substituted; processes for its preparation and its use in therapy, particularly in the treatment of migraine.
Abstract:
A pair of leg guards for sports, particularly of the type worn by hockey players under elastic socks, each includes rigid plastic shin and knee guard sections. A thigh guard section is joined continuously to the knee guard section. The shin guard section has front and rear panels. A channel is molded preferably diagonally across the front panel in which a rigid plastic strap protector is affixed. The strap protector has a slot through which a one-piece elastic strap passes to detachably secure the guard to the wearer's leg. The one-piece elastic strap has horizontal and diagonal strap portions which wrap around the back of the knee and lower leg respectively of the wearer and connect to the shin guard section by hook and loop connectors. The rear panel and the inside of the knee guard section are fitted and affixed continuously with a detachable liner for further protection of the wearer's leg and to enhance the life of the guard. The detachable liner has a plurality of knee pads and a shin pad spatially corresponding to the knee joint and shin of the wearer.
Abstract:
Polyester mixed fine filament yarns having excellent mechanical quality and uniformity, and preferably with a balance of good dyeability and shrinkage, are prepared by a simplified direct spin-orientation process by selection of polymer and spinning conditions.
Abstract:
In one aspect the present invention relates to a method of making an encapsulated electrically energized device, the method comprising: providing a first layer and a second layer each independently comprising a copolyester, a polycarbonate, a polyacrylate, polycarbonate/polyester miscible blends, or mixtures thereof, providing the electrically energized between the first and second layer, thermocompressively fusing the first layer and the second layer to encapsulate the electrically energized device by applying pressure at a temperature, sufficient to form the article, to a perimeter of the surface of the first and second layers, wherein the perimeter does not overlap the electrically energized device, wherein the temperature at the interface of the first and second layers is equal to or greater than Tg of the first layer and the second layer, and wherein the polyester layers have a flow during encapsulation less than the flow that induces fractures in the electrically energized device.
Abstract:
Polyester blends containing recycled, post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate are described. The blends have the advantage of being miscible (visually clear) and remaining clear after post-extrusion heat histories.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to engineered bacteriophages which express amyloid peptides for the modulation (e.g. increase or decrease) of protein aggregates and amyloid formation. In some embodiments, the engineered bacteriophages express anti-amyloid peptides for inhibiting protein aggregation and amyloid formation, which can be useful in the treatment and prevention of and bacterial infections and biofilms. In some embodiments, the engineered bacteriophages express amyloid peptides for promoting amyloid formation, which are useful for increasing amyloid formation such as promoting bacterial biofilms. Other aspects relate to methods to inhibit bacteria biofilms, and methods for the treatment of amyloid related disorders, e.g., Alzheimer's disease using an anti-amyloid peptide engineered bacteriophages. Other aspects of the invention relate to engineered bacteriophages to express the amyloid peptides on the bacteriophage surface and/or secrete the amyloid peptides, e.g., anti-amyloid peptides and pro-amyloid peptides, and uses thereof for modulation protein aggregates and amyloid formation.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a polymer blend comprising:(A) about 1% by weight to about 99% by weight of at least one polymer (A) comprising terephthalic acid residues, 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediol residues; and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol residues; (B) about 1% by weight to about 99% by weight of at least one polymer (B) comprising 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid residues and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol residues, and (C) about 0.01% by weight to about 20% by weight of at least one antimicrobial agent; said weight percentages being based on the total weight of the polymer blend.
Abstract:
