    摘要: The methods of harvesting cells are provided, wherein the methods comprise introducing a processing material and a source material into a processing loop. The processing loop comprises a processing chamber and a filtering device. The processing material and the source material are circulating through the processing chamber and the filtering device, wherein the processing chamber has a mass; balancing an influx of the processing material into the processing chamber with a permeate flux of the filtering device to maintain the mass of the processing chamber at a constant value; and collecting the cells in a collection chamber. Cell harvesting devices are also provided for processing and harvesting cells using a control law to balance the mass of the processing chamber through the entire process.

    摘要: An appliance using water including an incoming water valve is provided. The appliance includes a sensor disposed in-line to an incoming flow of water received from the incoming water valve and is configured to sense a degree of hardness in the incoming flow of water. The sensor includes a sensing element disposed on a substrate. The sensing element includes a sensing matrix, an indicator for one or more chemical species in flow of water, and a selectivity component that reacts reversibly with one or more chemical species in the water. The sensor also includes a light source configured to direct light through the substrate and the sensing matrix. The sensor further includes a light detector configured to receive transmitted light from the substrate and the sensing matrix and to generate a signal representative of selective wavelengths of the light indicative of one or more chemical species in flow of water.

    摘要: A sensor including a substrate and a sensing element disposed on a substrate is provided. The sensing element includes a sensing matrix in contact with a flow of water, an indicator for one or more chemical species in the flow of water, and a selectivity component that reacts reversibly with the one or more chemical species. The sensor also includes a light source configured to direct light through the substrate and the sensing element. The sensor further includes a light detector configured to receive transmitted light from the substrate and the sensing matrix and to generate a signal representative of selective wavelengths of the light indicative of the one or more chemical species in the flow of water.

    摘要: Provided is an apparatus and method for introducing a sample into a cryogenic system comprising, an airlock chamber, a sample path having a first end connected to the airlock chamber and a second end connected to a cryogenic helium bath, an equilibrator, inserted into the sample path and positioned between the airlock and the cryogenic bath and which allows for passage of a sample to the cryogenic helium bath, and a cooling unit to coupled to the equilibration to control the temperature of the equilibrator. A machine-readable medium, comprising instructions which when executed by a controller causes a sample to be positioned within the cryogenic system, is also provided.
