Abstract: A power converter circuit that includes a switch node coupled to a regulated power supply node via an inductor is configured to regulate a voltage level of a power supply node using a particular one of multiple available operating modes. In response to receiving a command to reduce the voltage level of the power supply node, the power converter circuit begins to reduce the voltage level of the power supply node, while autonomously selecting different ones of available operating modes. The power converter circuit may compare to the voltage level of the power supply node to boundary levels and select a different operating mode when the voltage level of the power supply node exceeds one of the boundaries. By switching operating modes during the negative slew of the voltage level of the power supply node, the power converter may maintain a target efficiency during the reduction in voltage.

Abstract: A current measurement circuit is disclosed. The current measurement circuit includes first and second circuit branches coupled to a circuit node through which current is to be measured. During a first period, the first circuit branch converts the current into a first voltage. During a second period, the second circuit branch converter the current into a second voltage. An analog-to-digital converter is configured to convert the first and second voltages into digital values indicative of the measured current. A control circuit is configured to alternately select one of the first and second branches during the generation of the digital values.

Abstract: An amplifier system includes a differential amplifier and a calibration circuit. In response to a calibration operation, the calibration circuit generates a calibration value based on a test output signal generated by the differential amplifier circuit using a test input signal. The calibration value may be used to adjust loading of internal nodes of the differential amplifier circuit to compensate for imbalance in the differential amplifier circuit resulting from variation in manufacturing. By compensating for the imbalance, the offset of the differential amplifier may be reduced, allowing resolution of smaller differential voltages, thereby improving the performance of circuits employing the differential amplifier circuit.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring instantaneous load current is disclosed. In one embodiment, an integrated circuit includes a voltage regulator and at least one functional unit implemented thereon. The voltage regulator includes a supply circuit configured to provide a voltage to the functional unit, and a sense circuit configured to determine an amount of current provided to the functional unit by the supply circuit. The sense circuit may determine the instantaneous load current being provided to the functional unit. An indication circuit is configured to provide, to the functional unit, an indication of the amount of current supplied thereto by the supply circuit.

Abstract: A power converter circuit included in a computer system may include a phase circuit and a sample circuit. The phase circuit compares a voltage level of the regulated power supply node to a reference voltage to generate a demand current that is used to adjust the voltage level of the regulated power supply node. The phase circuit also digitizes the demand current and stores the resultant bit stream in a memory circuit. The sample circuit generates timestamp information that points to particular storage locations in the memory circuit that correspond to trigger events, allowing the operation of the power converter circuit to be analyzed during different circumstances as well as to adjust operating parameters of the power converter circuit.
