摘要: A warning mechanism for detecting brake shoe wear is adapted to be fitted into a recess formed on the rear face of a brake shoe such that when the front face of the shoe, which undergoes frictional engagement during braking, is worn to a sufficient extent, a defaceable detection wire in the warning mechanism will be ruptured to provide an indication of depletion of the braking material of the shoe. The detector element is removably secured within the recess of the brake shoe and is located such that it will not be dislodged by a braking force applied to the brake shoe by a piston of the brake assembly but will, instead, be held in position thereby.

摘要: An image processing apparatus includes an image reception unit, a determination unit, a display unit, a correction accepting unit and a criterion modifying unit. The image reception unit receives a plurality of images. The determination unit determines whether each image received by the image reception unit corresponds to a separator image that represents a separator of a document based on a criterion and outputs a detection result. The display unit displays the detection result output by the determination unit. The correction accepting unit accepts correction of the displayed detection result in accordance with an operation performed by a user. The criterion modifying unit modifies the criterion based on the accepted correction. The determination unit re-determines whether each image received by the image reception unit corresponds to the separator image based on the criterion after the criterion is modified by the criterion modifying unit.

摘要: A disc-like grinding wheel 5 is formed with a circumferential groove 5a, the opposite walls of which define grinding surfaces 5b. A rotated carrier 3 brings a load pin 55 into rotary movement relative to the grinding wheel 5 rotated about an axis 5z, so as to pass the load pin 55 through space between the grinding surfaces 5b, whereby opposite end faces 55a of the load pin 55 are ground simultaneously. Thus, time taken by a grinding process may be reduced as compared with a conventional method wherein one end face is ground at a time.

摘要: An ultra high molecular weight polymer emulsion is produced by emulsion polymerization of a vinyl monomer, wherein the oxygen concentration in the aqueous phase of the reaction system is maintained at a smaller percentage by weight than the percentage by weight of the dissolved oxygen concentration in a 0.5 wt % sodium bisulfite aqueous solution. An emulsifier and a redox polymerization initiator are used for the emulsion polymerization.

摘要: An apparatus for forming a thin film on a substrate has a first reaction chamber in which a thin film is formed by gaseous discharge and a second reaction chamber in which reactive atoms are generated. The first and second reaction chambers commuicate with one another through an orifice in the first reaction chamber. The first reaction chamber houses a device for generating a film on a substrate, and the second reaction chamber houses a device for generating reactive atoms. The orifice is disposed in the vicinity of both a film-forming region in the first reaction chamber and a reactive atom-generating region in the second reaction chamber so that reactive atoms from the second reaction chamber will pass through the orifice and enter the film-forming region in the first reaction chamber, combine with particles in the film-forming region to form a chemical compound, and accumulate on the substrate. In preferred embodiments, the reaction chambers are formed by a single housing having a partition which has an orifice therein and which divides the housing into two reaction chambers.
