    Abstract: A light emitting device includes: a light emitting element that includes a light extracting surface, an electrode formed surface opposite to the light extracting surface, one or more lateral surfaces, and a pair of electrodes positioned on the electrode formed surface; a light-transmissive member that includes a light entering surface, a light exiting surface opposite to the light entering surface, and one or more lateral surfaces, the light entering surface being disposed on the light extracting surface; an insulating member that covers the lateral surfaces and the electrode formed surface of the light emitting element, and is disposed to expose at least part of the pair of electrodes; a first metal layer that covers the lateral surfaces of the light-transmissive member; and a second metal layer that covers the lateral surfaces of the light emitting element interposing the insulating member.

    Abstract: The light emitting device includes: a light emitting element, a covering member, a pair of electrode layers, and a pair of electrode terminals. The light emitting element has an electrode-formed surface on which a pair of electrode posts are formed. The covering member covers an electrode-formed surface of the light emitting element while forming an exposed portion of each of the pair of electrode posts which is exposed from the covering member. The pair of electrode layers are provided on a surface of the covering member and electrically connected to the exposed portions of the pair of electrode posts. The pair of electrode terminals are electrically connected to the pair of electrode layers, and provided on the surface of the covering member. The pair of electrode terminals are thicker than the pair of electrode layers, and are disposed at an interval larger than an interval between the pair of electrode posts.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a light emitting device includes: preparing a baseplate having a plate surface on which a protrusion is disposed; forming a first resin frame having an opening on the plate surface, wherein the opening is located above the protrusion; forming a second resin in the opening; detaching the baseplate; bonding a light emitting element to a surface of the second resin surface that has been exposed as a result of detaching the baseplate; and forming a third resin that surrounds lateral faces of the light emitting element and that covers and contacts a portion of the first resin frame.
