摘要: An oil sump is mounted on an assembly formed by a crankcase and a flywheel housing of an internal combustion engine. The flywheel housing has a first parting plane to the crankcase and to the oil sump. In mounted state, the joint faces of the flywheel housing, the crankcase, and the oil sump lie on each other. The crankcase has a second parting plane to the oil sump. In mounted state the joint faces of the crankcase and the oil sump lie on each other. At least one guide is provided between the flywheel housing and the oil sump, the guide orienting at least the joint faces of the oil sump and the crankcase relative to each other during connection of the oil sump to the assembly formed by the crankcase and flywheel housing, such that on creation of the abutment connection between the oil sump and the crankcase, these joint faces are oriented substantially planar parallel.

摘要: An air-leading type, stratified scavenging two-stroke engine. The engine including a cylinder member and a crankcase joined therewith has an intake passage, an exhaust passage, first and second scavenging passages, a communicating portion and an air passage. The intake passage, the exhaust passage and the air passage are formed in the cylinder member. The first and the second scavenging passages each has a cylinder member-side passage and a crankcase-side passage. The cylinder member-side passages of both of the first and the second scavenging passages communicate with each other via the communicating portion. The air passage is connected to the cylinder member-side passage of the first scavenging passage. In the engine, air for pre-scavenging is introduced from the air passage through a check valve into the cylinder member-side passage of the first scavenging passage, and a part of the introduced air flows into the second scavenging passage through the communicating portion.

摘要: A dual crank mechanism is introduced for controlling and optimizing asymmetry in the motion profile of at least one piston of an opposed piston internal combustion (OPIC) engine piston pair. The dual crank mechanism produces a substantially asymmetrical non-sinusoidal, but periodic, reciprocating motion profile of the right-hand piston. A single crank mechanism is also introduced for controlling non-sinusoidal, but mostly symmetric, piston motion profile for one or both pistons of an opposed piston pair. The two novel crank mechanisms may be advantageously used exclusively or in combination in order to optimize the piston motion in a novel high efficiency OPIC engine having an externally mounted combustion chamber, an external compressing means for injecting compressed fuel mixtures directly into the external combustion chamber, and reducing cylinder porting to a single exhaust port per cylinder due to improved scavenging resulting from the asymmetric non-sinusoidal piston profiles produced by the novel crank mechanisms.

摘要: A true two-stroke (power and exhaust) internal combustion piston engine combining direct injection of all combustion and working fluid elements with exhaust valve(s) that open early during the power stroke if cylinder pressure falls below exhaust manifold pressure, will operate efficiently from power levels produced by conventional four-stroke engines of a fraction of the displacement of the two-stroke engine to power levels attainable by conventional four-stroke engines of twice the two-stroke engine displacement. No additional external systems will be required to enhance performance or control emissions, as all such enhancements are equivalent to control of the combustion and working fluid components. The magnitude of the combustion charge determines the power, and the makeup of the combustion components determine exhaust emissions. Any implementation of the true two-stroke engine will have the further advantages of requiring only half the cylinders (space and weight) and an equivalent reduction in required support systems. No intake valve train, no intake filter or manifolds, no catalytic converter or exhaust gas recirculation will be required. Some implementations may eliminate other support systems entirely (starter, cooling, exhaust valve train, etc.)

摘要: A carburetor for a hand-guided power tool has a carburetor housing and a carburetor rotor supported rotatably in the carburetor housing about an axis of rotation. A needle is disposed on the carburetor rotor and projects into a fuel opening of the carburetor. An adjusting element is operatively connected to the needle so as adjust a position of the needle relative to the carburetor rotor. The adjusting element has an engagement contour that is to be engaged by a tool for adjusting the adjusting element. A securing contour that is fixedly connected to the carburetor rotor is provided. The securing contour, at any point of the securing contour, has a spacing to the axis of rotation of at least approximately 10 mm.
