    摘要: An image display apparatus having a three-dimensionally decentered optical path to attain a reduction in overall size of the apparatus and to place constituent members effectively in a dead space, thereby permitting the apparatus to be designed in a variety of ways. The apparatus includes an image display device and a viewing optical system for leading an image formed by the image display device to a pupil. The viewing optical system has at least a first reflecting surface and a second reflecting surface positioned closer to the pupil than the first reflecting surface along the optical path. A first plane defined by the optical axis incident on the first reflecting surface and the optical axis reflected therefrom and a second plane defined by the optical axis incident on the second reflecting surface and the optical axis reflected therefrom intersect each other at an arbitrary angle, thereby forming a three-dimensionally decentered optical path. At least either one of the first and second reflecting surfaces has a curved surface configuration.

    摘要: An image display apparatus allows an image from a single image display device to be led to two eyes without using a half-mirror, thereby allowing observation of a bright image, and facilitates correction of various aberrations. A viewing optical system includes a left ocular part, a right ocular part, and an optical path distributing part for leading a light beam from a single image display device to the left and right ocular parts. The left and right ocular parts each have at least two reflecting surfaces. The optical path distributing part has at least one pair of reflecting surfaces for left and right optical paths. These reflecting surfaces are formed from rotationally asymmetric curved reflecting surfaces having the function of correcting decentration aberrations. The left and right optical paths of the viewing optical system are formed by optical surfaces arranged so that the left and right optical paths are not in plane symmetry with each other but in 180-degree rotational symmetry with respect to only a normal line passing through the center of the image display device.

    摘要: Low-cost plastic optics allow biocular viewing of video images with a single electro-optic display device. Folded and unfolded dual off-axis configurations use collimated illumination and intermediate imaging optics to fill both eyepieces from a single display device without requiring beamsplitters. Multiple illumination schemes provide either monochrome or color, either two-dimensional or time-sequential true stereographic presentation. Light from multicolor sources is superimposed using dichroic mirrors. A display field lens proximate to the display surface collimates the illumination beam. A shaping lens provides substantially uniform illumination of the display surface. An aperture stop improves image quality by blending sub-pixel higher order spatial harmonics from the display device. Offsetting color over- and under-correction of individual optical elements provides overall chromatic correction with minimal optical complexity. Lightweight optical elements and injection-molded unitary plastic structures containing multiple optical elements reduce cost and complexity. A wireless video interface eliminates excess cabling.

    摘要: A head-mounted image display apparatus includes optical visual units mounted on a laterally disposed shaft and adjustable so as to be movable toward and away from each other for establishing a correct eye spacing for a user. LCD display panels are mounted within the optical visual units so as to be vertically movable while ocular lenses onto which images displayed by the LCDs are projected via an obliquely arranged mirror are positionally fixed relative the eyes of the user such that focus adjustment will not cause image dropout and so that focus and eye spacing may be established independently of each other. Sliders provided for effecting focus and eye spacing adjustment are mounted such that frictional force is applied thereto for providing smooth but sure movement of the sliders so that a set position of the sliders may be reliably maintained. The sliders may be mounted via self a lubricating mounting to improve adjustment smoothness and slide characteristics.

A left eye video signal synthesis unit generates a left eye display signal by synthesizing the left eye second image signal with a partial region of the left eye first video signal. These right and left eye display signals are displayed on a video display unit, so that the image sensed by the image sensing unit is fused at finite distance.
