    摘要: A two-cycle combustion engine having a two-staged piston, is simple in structure and inexpensive and addresses a undesirable blow-off phenomenon of the air-fuel mixture. The two-cycle combustion engine includes a cylinder block having a two-staged cylinder bore with a reduced diameter bore portion and a large diameter bore portion, and a two-staged piston having a reduced diameter piston portion and a large diameter piston portion. An annular auxiliary chamber is defined between the two-staged cylinder bore and the reduced diameter piston portion. The two-cycle combustion engine also includes an air-fuel mixture passage for introducing the air-fuel mixture into a crank member, an air passage for introducing air into the auxiliary chamber, a scavenge passage for supplying the air-fuel mixture within the crank chamber into a combustion chamber, and injection passages and for injecting the air within the auxiliary chamber into the combustion chamber to counter a press-out issue.

    摘要: The device presents an ionization cell (14, 114) housed inside a casing (13, 113) fitted inside the exhaust conduit (6, 106) of the engine (5, 105); and the cell (14, 114) presents at least one circularly symmetrical cathode (23, 64) supplied by an electronic circuit to generate a discharge of negative ions at such a speed as to break the peripheral electron bonds of the toxic or pollutant component molecules of the exhaust gas. In an embodiment for spark-ignition combustion engines (5), the casing (13) presents two coaxial fittings (21, 22), each surrounded by a metal sponge filter (33) for storing the heat of the gas. In a further embodiment for diesel engines (105), the casing (113) presents an inverting chamber (47) for inverting the gas flow and located upstream from the ionization cell (114); and the gas is heated in the inverting chamber (47) by resistors (61) supplied by the battery. In a variation of the device, a further fitting is provided for feeding part of the purified, ionized exhaust gas back to the intake conduit of the engine to improve engine efficiency during cold-starting and when accelerating sharply.

    摘要: A control valve arrangement for a three-valve-per-cylinder internal combustion engine. The control valve arrangement controls not only the effective length of the intake passage serving each combustion chamber, but also controls the flow through the intake passage so as to generate turbulence under low-speed and low-load conditions. The control valve further includes a pair of valves which change not only the effective flow area, but also the effective flow direction. In this way varying degrees and types of turbulence can be generated during different engine running conditions. A number of different types of valve arrangements are disclosed.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine of either two-cycle or four-cycle construction including a block having at least one cylinder bore therein having sidewalls carrying a liner of a structural fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material disposed in sealed fiber reinforced sliding relationship within the cylinder bore, and a cylinder head sealing atop end of the cylinder bore to form a closed combustion chamber in combination with the piston. The cylinder head also has the structural fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material disposed on an inner surface thereof facing the combustion chamber. The preferred engine is a two-cycle engine having an externally scavenged intake system and an oil sump lubricating system thereby eliminating the need to separately mix or inject lubricating oil. Higher operating temperatures and closer tolerances allow higher fuel efficiency and less pollutant production. A preferred structural fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite material and the method of making same is also disclosed.
