Abstract: A system for converting digital data into a modulated optical signal, comprises an electrically controllable device having M actuating electrodes. The device provides an optical signal that is modulated in response to binary voltages applied to the actuating electrodes. The system also comprises a digital-to-digital converter that provides a mapping of input data words to binary actuation vectors of M bits and supplies the binary actuation vectors as M bits of binary actuation voltages to the M actuating electrodes, where M is larger than the number of bits in each input data word. The digital-to-digital converter is enabled to map each digital input data word to a binary actuation vector by selecting a binary actuation vector from a subset of binary actuation vectors available to represent each of the input data words.

Abstract: A method of measuring a metabolic activity (MA) of a cell is provided. The method comprising independently measuring in an extracellular environment of the cell, time-dependent acidification profiles due to secretion of: (i) non-volatile soluble metabolic products; (ii) non-volatile soluble metabolic products and volatile soluble metabolic products; and (iii) volatile soluble metabolic products; wherein at least one of the time dependent acidification profiles is indicative of the metabolic activity of the cell. Also provided are clinical methods which make use of the assay.

Abstract: A method for image reconstruction includes defining a dictionary including a set of atoms selected such that patches of natural images can be represented as linear combinations of the atoms. A binary input image, including a single bit of input image data per input pixel, is captured using an image sensor. A maximum-likelihood (ML) estimator is applied, subject to a sparse synthesis prior derived from the dictionary, to the input image data so as to reconstruct an output image comprising multiple bits per output pixel of output image data.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide derivatives of Amphotericin B having increased solubility and reduced toxicity relative to AMB, while retaining antifungal activity against multiple clinical fungal isolates. Derivatives of AMB are provided comprising a polymer group having an amine group, the polymer linked to mycosamine via a relatively stable linker such as an amide linker. Abstract: An antibody is provided. The antibody comprises an Fc region and a Fab region, wherein: (i) the Fc region comprises two non-identical heavy chains, wherein at least one of the two non-identical heavy chains comprises an amino acid modification so as to form complementation between the two non-identical heavy chains thereby increasing the probability of forming heterodimers of the non-identical heavy chains and decreasing the probability of forming homodimers of identical heavy chains; and (ii) the Fab region comprises a first covalent link between a first heavy chain and a first light chain of the Fab region and a second covalent link between a second heavy chain and a second light chain of said Fab region, wherein a position of the first covalent link relative to the first heavy chain is different to a position of the second covalent link relative to the second heavy chain. Methods of generating same and uses thereof are also provided.

Abstract: A method of generating a particle is disclosed, the particle being for delivery of a polynucleotide to a target cell. The method comprises (a) contacting the polynucleotide with a composition comprising cationic molecules, wherein the cationic molecules condense the polynucleotide by electrostatic interactions to generate a complex, wherein the cationic molecules are not comprised in a liposome; and (b) covalently binding the complex to a targeting moiety at a pH equal to or below about 4.5, thereby generating the particle for delivery of the polynucleotide agent to the target cell. Use of the particles and compositions comprising same are also disclosed.
