A radio communication device using a quadrature modulation-demodulation circuit which enables DC offset error fluctuation to be corrected more accurately regardless of the condition of temperature variation or power source voltage fluctuation. A quadrature demodulation circuit inputs therein a QPSK signal to output a base band signal perpendicularly intersecting to the QPSK signal. A base band signal generation circuit inputs therein a transmission data to convert into two analog base band signals perpendicularly intersecting with each other. A quadrature modulation circuit inputs therein the analog base band signal and modulated frequency signal to output the QPSK signal. A switching circuit selects either one of the analog base band signal and the QPSK signal. An A/D conversion circuit quantizes an output signal of the switching circuit. An offset error detecting means detects DC offset error. Consequently, the radio communication device causes the DC offset error caused by temperature variation and power source voltage fluctuation to be reduced regardless of on operation.

The device includes an outer environment detector for detecting an outer environment in running a vehicle, a running environment determining device for predicting a current running environment in accordance with the outer environment, a data storage device for storing data for changing a driving characteristic, a selecting device for selecting the data, a control quantity calculator for calculating a control quantity based on the data, and a control actuator for controlling a control object. The engine output is efficiently utilized since the air/fuel ratio is changed in accordance with the change in the running environment, and the fuel cost reduction and the promotion of the drivability can be achieved since the selecting of the air/fuel ratio is performed in accordance with the running environment.

A control unit for vehicle is provided where an increase in a number of input/output and upgrading functions can easily be performed and, in addition to this, changing of a program in a control unit can easily be performed even when a single-chip micro-computer is used. A control unit is constructed such as to comprise an interface software memory storing an interface software program for connecting an application software program with an operating system in an internal ROM, a CPU for performing computation of the application software program and the interface software program, a RAM storing data such as the result of the computation, an I/O unit for extending the control unit, and an extending device for communicating memory data through a bus or a LAN. A single-chip micro-computer used in vehicle control can easily cope with an increase in the input/output ports or additional functions, and an application software program can continuously be used only by rewriting an interface software program. Further, re-manufacturing of a core unit is unnecessary. Therefore, development of a control unit including programs becomes easy.

A torque detection mechanism can be provided for a power train and its control unit without newly adding a sensor and its signal processing module. As a gear pair for the torque detection mechanism of a phase difference type, existing gears in a transmission are used, or a gear pair for this mechanism are provided adjacent to these existing gears. From phase signals sent from pickups, a phase difference signal is obtained by use of one part of existing devices in the control unit. The torque detection mechanism can be realized with the minimum number of component parts by utilizing the existing members and spaces instead of newly adding a sensor and its module. The invention can be applied to either of FF and FR cars, and has a practical structure in respect of the performance, costs and reliability.

A frequency stabilizer for use in a time-division multiplexed digital cellular system is designed to reduce the consumption of electric power by means of a receiving circuit in continuous frequency control. The frequency stabilizer includes a pair of latches 4 and 5 for latching a phase error of an output signal from a phase error integrating circuit 2, a subtractor 6 for outputting the difference between respective output signals from the latches 4, 5, and a selector switch 8 for selecting and outputting an output signal from a phase-to-frequency converter 3 in the period of a reception slot and an output signal from a frequency correcting circuit 7 between reception slots. When the selector switch 8 is selecting the output signal from the frequency correcting circuit 7, no electrical energy is supplied to the receiving circuit. Even when the frequency stabilizer is in continuous operation, the receiving circuit operates only during the reception slot, resulting in reduced consumption of electrical energy.
