Abstract: Provided are surface treatment agents that enable surfaces with a chemically fixed lubricant to be produced instead of a resin coating which has drawbacks, such as that lubricity is reduced due to separation, peeling or the like of the coating during the movement within a vessel or tube; and medical devices, such as catheters, having a surface at least partially treated with such a surface treatment agent. The present invention relates to a surface treatment agent for medical devices which contains a copolymer of a hydrophilic functional group-containing monomer and an epoxy group-containing monomer.

Abstract: The present invention provides a rubber composition for a tire, which has an increased rate of reaction between a silane coupling agent and silica so that its performances including fuel economy and abrasion resistance can be enhanced; and a pneumatic tire formed from the rubber composition. The present invention relates to a rubber composition for a tire, containing: diene rubber; silica; a silane coupling agent; and a carbonate salt and/or a hydrogen carbonate salt, wherein the rubber composition has a total content of the carbonate salt and the hydrogen carbonate salt of 0.3 to 25 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the silica.

Abstract: Provided are methods for surface-modifying a rubber vulcanizate or a thermoplastic elastomer, which can cost-effectively provide a variety of functions, e.g. sliding properties or liquid leakage resistance. Included is a method for surface-modifying a rubber vulcanizate or a thermoplastic elastomer as a modification target, the method including: step 1 of forming polymerization initiation points A on a surface of the modification target; step 2 of radically polymerizing a non-functional monomer starting from the points A to grow non-functional polymer chains; and step 3 of forming polymerization initiation points B on a surface of the non-functional polymer chains, radically polymerizing a polymerizable silane compound starting from the points B, and further reacting a perfluoroether group-containing silane compound to grow functional polymer chains, or step 3′ of adding a silane compound to a surface of the non-functional polymer chains and further reacting a perfluoroether group-containing silane compound to grow functional polymer chains.

Abstract: Provided are surface-modified elastic bodies (e.g. gasket for syringes) each obtained by a surface modification method for modifying a rubber vulcanizate or a thermoplastic elastomer, the method being capable of providing surfaces with excellent properties such as excellent sliding properties, excellent durability against repeated sliding motion, and excellent performance in preventing adsorption and aggregation of proteins, and allowing the surfaces to maintain the sealing properties, without using expensive self-lubricating plastics. The invention relates to surface-modified elastic bodies (e.g. gasket for syringes) at least partially having a surface modified by a surface modification method including: step 1 of forming polymerization initiation points on a surface of an object to be modified that includes a rubber vulcanizate or thermoplastic elastomer, and step 2 of radically polymerizing a monomer containing a C—N bond in a molecule thereof, starting from the polymerization initiation points, to grow polymer chains on the surface of the object.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods of modifying the surfaces of a plurality of three-dimensional objects at the same time to provide good sliding properties, good durability after repeated sliding, good sealing properties, and the like, and also provides gaskets for syringes obtained by such methods. The present invention relates to a method for modifying the surfaces of a plurality of three-dimensional objects including: a step 1 of immersing a plurality of three-dimensional objects in a photopolymerizable monomer-containing liquid; and a step 2 of polymerizing the photopolymerizable monomer by photoirradiation while rotating a vessel containing the plurality of three-dimensional objects and the photopolymerizable monomer-containing liquid, to grow polymer chains on the surfaces of the plurality of three-dimensional objects.
