摘要: A device for producing a coating on printed products from a printing press is provided. The coating device can be actuated digitally via printing image data thereby allowing the coating motif to be designed in a variable manner The coating device can include an inkjet printer in the form of an inkjet head array or an inkjet head bar acting as a varnishing unit that operates line-by-line on large-format printing material. The coating device can also be integrated in a rotary press having a varnishing unit for coating a printing material that has been processed in the printing press. The coating device can also be integrated with a dryer. The printing material can be passed under the outlet openings of the inkjet heads and the dryer can be arranged directly after the inkjet printer in the transport direction of the printing material in order to dry the liquid coating material on the printing material after the application.

摘要: A method of enhancing an image (11) provided by thermoplastic marking material on a substrate (4) which material can be thermally activated to take on adhesive properties. The method comprises bringing a transfer medium (7) into contact with the substrate (4) carrying the marking material, the transfer medium including a carrier (3) and a transferable layer (15, 16), the transferable layer being positioned in use between the carrier and the substrate: thermally activating the adhesive property of the marking material; and separating the carrier (13) and substrate (4) whereby areas of the transferable layer containing the activated marking material remain on the marking material, characterized in that the transferable layer exhibits or generates a visible pattern.

摘要: A method of forming a transferable pattern or image of an inorganic film by coating an embossed substrate with an inorganic layer, that may comprise one or more films, over both recessed and raised surface portions, adhesively laminating a transfer substrate to the inorganic layer coating the raised surface portions of the embossed substrate and separating the embossed substrate and the transfer substrate. The adhesive is selected such that the bond between the transfer substrate and the inorganic film on the raised surface portions is greater than the bond between the inorganic layer on the raised surface portions and the embossed substrate. The embossed substrate resulting after removal of the inorganic layer coating the raised surface portions may be modified to include additional inorganic layers over the recessed surface portions by tinning or electroplating methods such that this thickened inorganic layer may also be transferred from the embossed substrate to a transfer substrate as set forth above.

摘要: A belt of flexible metal with a dielectric of good electrostatic charge retention properties bonded to it is guided over grounded metal rollers with the metallicized side in contact with the rollers. At an imaging station an electrostatic image is placed directly on the dielectric. As the belt moves past a toning station it is sprayed with an insulating fluid containing small particles of high dielectric constant, which thereby obtain an induced dipole moment, or particles with a permanent dipole moment may be used. These particles are suspended in an organic carrier which is chosen so as not to discharge the dielectric belt and to impart a negligible electrostatic charge to the particles. Then the developed image is moved past a station wherein a dielectric roller is used as a backup, and a sheet of plain paper is pressed between the belt and the roller to transfer the wet particles from the belt to the paper.Because the image charge is never neutralized or electrostatically degraded, the belt can be developed and used to print new images many times without having to replace the image charge.
