Abstract:
A system includes a syringe adapter having a first end and a second end with the first end of the syringe adapter configured to be connected to a first container and the second end of the syringe adapter including a lock member having an open position and a closed position. The system also includes a vial adapter having a first end and a second end with the second end of the vial adapter configured to be connected to a second container and the first end of the vial adapter having a locking surface. The lock member includes at least one projection that extends radially outward. The syringe adapter has at least one corresponding projection configured to engage the at least one projection of the lock member to retain the lock member to the syringe adapter.
Abstract:
There is described a package for the reconstitution and administration of fluid medicinal or nutritional substances which are infused or instillable within the body of a patient, comprising a flexible casing containing a vial of a medicinal or nutritional substance in a coupling position to a coupling and perforation device inserted into a mixing tube for the connection with a bag of liquid diluent. The casing comprises a connector provided with an openable and hermetically closable cap, adapted to introduce a mixture of sterilizing gas and oxygen into said casing.
Abstract:
An adaptor for coupling with a medical container, including: a tubular body receiving a pierceable elastomeric piece, defining an inner cavity of the adaptor, the pierceable elastomeric piece being movable within the tubular body between a first position, in which a distal part of the pierceable elastomeric piece forms a seal of the cavity, and a second position, proximally spaced from the first position, in which the distal part opens the seal of the cavity, an air inlet, a filtering system for filling the inner cavity with decontaminated air, and a gripping member for securing the adaptor to the medical container. Also, an assembly comprising such an adaptor and a medical container.
Abstract:
A system for the closed transfer of fluids that provides substantially leak-proof sealing and pressure equalization during engagement of a cannula with a vial, during transfer of a substance from a vial chamber to a barrel chamber via the cannula, and during disengagement of the cannula from the vial is disclosed. The leak-proof sealing of the system substantially prevents leakage of both air and liquid during use of the system. The system of the present disclosure also permits pressure equalization between a vial and the system when the system is attached to the vial. The system is compatible with a needle and syringe assembly for accessing a medication contained within a vial for administering the medication to a patient.
Abstract:
A closing plug for a sealed sterile vial containing medical or nutritional active substances, which is suitable for the sterile connection to a container of liquid diluent solution. There is also described a sterile connection system between a sealed sterile vial closed by means of a plug and a tube for drawing said active substances, for mixing them with a liquid diluent solution inside a sterile container. The plug requires an internal sterile chamber in which, upon the piercing of an outer film for sealing the plug, a compressible protection cap of a piercing tip of the tube is inserted, which abuts against a seat of the sterile chamber allowing the tip to pierce the end wall of the protection cap and then the inner membrane of the closing plug. An intermediate pierceable membrane placed on the seat of the internal chamber of the vial may be included.
Abstract:
Devices, systems and methods for automatically positioning a syringe in a target orientation suitable for withdrawing medication from a container, and for filling the syringe with the medication. The device comprises a syringe conveyor, which is configured to receive the syringe in an initial orientation, and to bring the syringe to a target orientation by being translated and rotated while holding the syringe in a steady orientation relative to the syringe conveyor. The device further comprises a supporting module, configured to support the syringe conveyor while allowing a translation and a rotation thereof. The device comprises a syringe holder configured to hold the syringe, and a gripper coupled to the syringe holder. The gripper is configured to engage the plunger and to enable the automatic displacement.
Abstract:
A drug mixing system including at least one receptacle port adaptor adapted to be inserted into a port of a fluid receptacle, at least one syringe adaptor adapted to be attached to a syringe and to the at least one receptacle port adaptor and at least one vial adaptor adapted for connection to a vial containing a drug and adapted for connection to the at least one syringe adaptor, the system being characterized in that at least one of the receptacle port adaptor, the at least one syringe adaptor and the at least one vial adaptor being vented to the atmosphere in a manner which prevents release to the atmosphere of possibly harmful contents of the vial in a liquid, solid or gaseous form.
Abstract:
In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor comprises a housing member, a connector configured to couple the adaptor with a vial, and an extractor channel formed in the housing member. The extractor channel is configured to facilitate withdrawal of fluid from the vial when the adaptor is coupled to the vial. In some embodiments, an anti-reflux valve is positioned within the extractor channel. The anti-reflux valve can be configured to impede or obstruct fluid returning to a fluid source after withdrawal of the fluid from the fluid source.
Abstract:
A syringe fill system is described, which is useful for filling syringes for dental anesthetic applications. The system incorporates capability for “push-pull”, “pull-push”, “push-push”, and “pull-pull” modes of operation, for loading syringes with compositions comprising multiple fluid components. A syringe Tillable by such syringe fill systems is described, providing haptic and audible feedback to a user, to aid in administering precise amounts of therapeutic compositions. Also disclosed are cassette assemblies for use in such syringe fill systems. Such cassette assemblies may be formed of plastic and elastomeric materials of construction, as disposable or single-use components of the syringe fill system.
Abstract:
A sealed flexible pouch having an aseptic interior, the sealed flexible pouch including a container for holding a pharmaceutical solution, one or more additional components, and a template frame, wherein the container and the one or more additional components are affixed to a template frame in a predetermined first arrangement and provided inside the sealed flexible pouch.
