Abstract: A system includes a hand-held electronic device and an adapter mechanically connectable to a mobile machine. The adapter is configured to communicate with an electronic system of the mobile machine via a wired connection and to communicate with the hand-held electronic device via a wireless connection. The hand-held electronic device is configured to present to the user via a user interface a plurality of implement identifiers, receive from the user via the user interface a selection indicating one of the plurality of implement identifiers, and emulate operation of the implement corresponding to the selected implement identifier.

Abstract: A communication device configured to unobtrusively display media content. The processor receives an indication of a state transition of a first Activity and detects a first user interaction with the user interface, which may be done by inspecting a first operating system method called in relation to the first Activity. Upon determining the first Activity is finishing, the processor displays the media content. A backing Activity is then invoked behind the media content on a z-axis of the display wherein the operating system delays execution of the backing Activity for a predefined delay period subsequent to the selection of the user interface element. A second user interaction with the user interface is detected by inspecting a second operating system method called in relation to the backing Activity. The display of the media content is terminated upon the detection of the occurrence of the second user interaction.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of providing distributed storage services to a host computer from a network interface card (NIC) of the host computer. At the NIC, the method accesses a set of one or more external storages operating outside of the host computer through a shared port of the NIC that is not only used to access the set of external storages but also for forwarding packets not related to an external storage. In some embodiments, the method accesses the external storage set by using a network fabric storage driver that employs a network fabric storage protocol to access the external storage set. The method presents the external storage as a local storage of the host computer to a set of programs executing on the host computer. In some embodiments, the method presents the local storage by using a storage emulation layer on the NIC to create a local storage construct that presents the set of external storages as a local storage of the host computer.

Abstract: In a general aspect, user requests for access distributed quantum computing resources in a distributed quantum computing system are managed. In a general aspect, a job request for accessing a quantum computing resource is received. The job request includes a user id and a program. On authentication of a user associated with the job request, a job identifier is assigned to the job request, and a particular quantum computing resource is selected for the job request. The job request is individualized based on user permissions and pushed onto a queue to be processed for execution by the quantum computing resource.

Abstract: Distinguishing user-initiated activity from application-initiated activity, including: gathering first information generated by a browser extension of a browser executed on a user device, wherein the first information describes activity associated with the browser; gathering second information generated by a client application executed on the user device, wherein the second information describes activity associated with the user device; and determining whether a user has deviated from normal activity by determining, based on the first information, whether at least a portion of the activity described in the second information comprises user-initiated activity or browser-initiated activity.

Abstract: A testing and verification system for an equivalent physical configuration of an in-flight entertainment and communications system with one or more hardware components includes a virtual machine manager. One or more virtual machines each including a hardware abstraction layer is instantiated by the virtual machine manager according to simulated hardware component definitions corresponding to the equivalent physical configuration of the hardware components. The virtual machines are in communication with each other over virtual network connections. A test interface to the one or more virtual machines generate test inputs to target software applications installed on the virtual machines. A display interface is connected to the virtual machines, with results from the execution of the target software applications responsive to the test inputs are output thereto.

Abstract: Migration of quantum services from quantum computing devices to quantum simulators is disclosed herein. In one example, a quantum computing device executes a migration service that receives a system stress indicator from a system monitor that tracks a status of the quantum computing device and/or a status of qubits maintained by the quantum computing device. The migration service determines, based on the system stress indicator, that a quantum service running on the quantum computing device is to be migrated. Upon determining that the quantum service is to be migrated, the migration service retrieves a QASM file that contains quantum programming instructions defining the quantum service. The QASM file is then transmitted to a quantum simulator running on a classical computing device for failover execution. In some examples, the classical computing device then executes a simulated quantum service within the quantum simulator based on the QASM file.

Abstract: A state management server applies configuration information to a set of virtual computer system instances in accordance with one or more limitations specified by an administrator. In an embodiment, the limitations include a velocity parameter that limits the number of virtual computer system instances to which the configuration may be applied concurrently. In an embodiment, the limitations include an error threshold that stops the application of the configuration if the number of configuration failures meets or exceeds the error threshold. In an embodiment, the set of virtual computer systems is identified by providing a list of the individual virtual computer system instances, or by specifying one or more tags that are associated with the virtual computer systems in the set. In an embodiment, the administrator is able to specify that an association be applied according to a predetermined schedule.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to implement a thread sensor generation system to generate thread sensors for extracting side channel information about other executing threads on a multithreading CPU. In embodiments, the system generates a set of sensors for evaluation. Each sensor may include a sequence of arithmetic or logic operations between variables or constants, which will cause a particular resource usage pattern by the CPU. The sensors are executed on the CPU in parallel with instances of a victim thread to measure an execution slowdown profile of the sensor thread caused by CPU resource conflicts with the victim thread. Based on the execution slowdown profiles, a sensitivity metric is calculated for each sensor, which is used to select the best sensor(s) for the victim thread. Sensors generated using the disclosed techniques can be used to extract secret information via side-channel attacks on currently available multithreaded processors.

Abstract: A software enhancement and management system (E&M System) can include two ways to decompose existing software such that new functionality can be added: functional decomposition and time-affecting linear pathway (TALP) decomposition. Functional decomposition captures the inputs and outputs of the existing software's functions and attaches the new algorithmic constructs presented as other functions that receive the outputs of the existing software's functions. TALP decomposition allows for the generation of time-prediction polynomials that approximate time-complexity functions, speedup, and automatic dynamic loop-unrolling-based parallelization for each TALP.
