Described is a technology in which point cloud surface reconstruction is performed via parallel processing on a graphics processing unit, achieving real-time reconstruction rates. An octree is built for a given set of oriented points, with each node containing a set of points enclosed by the node. The data structure is built on the GPU, in parallel, using level-order traversals to process nodes at a same tree level. The surface is reconstructed based on data configured and located via the traversals. To produce the surface, an implicit function over the volume spanned by the octree nodes is computed using the GPU, e.g., based on a Poisson surface reconstruction method. A sparse linear system is built and a multi-grid solver is employed to solve the system. An adaptive marching cubes procedure is performed on the GPU to extract an isosurface of the implicit function as a triangular mesh

A scanning backlight source driving apparatus and a liquid crystal display using the same are provided, wherein the scanning backlight source driving apparatus includes a DC/AC inverter, N transformers, N switches, and a control circuit, where N is a natural number. The DC/AC inverter has a first output terminal and a second output terminal configured to output an AC voltage. Each transformer has a primary winding. Each switch electrically connects the first output terminal to the second output terminal through a corresponding one of the primary windings. The control circuit is configured to control periodic and temporary turn-on or turn-off on the switches in a predetermined sequence.

An inverter includes a counter, a PWM generator, a central controller and a power converter. The counter is used for receiving a frame switch signal to generate a frame counting signal. The PWM generator is coupled to the counter, and is used to select a specific frequency among a plurality of predetermined frequencies according to the frame counting signal, and generate a modulated signal having the specific frequency. The central controller is coupled to the PWM generator, and is used to generate a processed signal according to the modulated signal. The power converter is coupled to the central controller, and is used to generate an output signal according to the processed signal.

A highly efficient radiant burner assembly (100) for use in a patio heater or the like in areas where people prefer or require low NOX emissions. The efficiencies are created through the use of a spherical burner element (116) that is either formed of a high temperature steel wire mesh or stamping containing apertures of a predetermined size to allow combustion to remain within the burner element and to not cause the temperature of the burner element to exceed the temperature at which NOX are developed. Coating the burner with a catalyst also aids the low emission combustion process. Additional efficiencies are provided by atomizing the fuel before it is mixed with air and by the use of a laminar flow heat exchanger (940) that utilizes a fluid media flowing in a helical coil condenser unit.

A system and method for remotely loading artifacts is disclosed. The system and method involves monitoring application installation events on a computing device. In response to detecting an application installation event, the application installation event is intercepted. The application associated with the application installation event is searched for artifacts, and any artifacts found within the application are stored in a centralized location. The artifacts are further indexed according to a target namespace. In one embodiment, the system and method further involved receiving a query from a client to locate an artifact, locating the artifact from previously extracted artifacts and returning the artifact as URL address.

The current invention discloses nucleic acid and amino acid sequences for novel organic anion transfer proteins (“OATPs”). The invention encompasses the OATPs described herein, together with vectors containing the cDNA sequences, host cells containing the vectors and polypeptides having all or part of an OATP. Also encompasses are uses for OATPs for targeting drugs to specific organs and for modulating the concentration of endogenous substrates.

Ways to easily calculate tips related to a shift or day of service are disclosed. Receipts with several signature locations with each location corresponding to a different amount of a tip may be used to allow a customer to easily indicate how much of a tip is being left. The receipts may be presented on paper or on a device. If the receipts are on paper, they may be scanned. An application on a user device or a server may determine which location was signed, and tip amounts may be calculated and tallied automatically.

Described is a technology by which a user interacts with a surface representative of a point cloud data to correct for imperfect scan data. The surface is reconstructed based on the interaction. Real time viewing of the image is facilitated by parallel surface reconstruction. For example, the user may draw strokes to reduce topological ambiguities in poorly-sampled areas. An algorithm automatically adds new oriented sample points to the original point cloud based on the user interaction. Then a new isosurface is generated for the augmented point cloud. The user also may specify the geometry of missing areas of the surface. The user copies a set of points from another point cloud, and places the points around the target area. A new isosurface is then generated.
