摘要: A laminated safety glass window is described having a clear polymer inner layer which includes a pattern of wrinkled resistance wires oriented in non-parallel random fashion so as to reduce glare from the wires when the window is used as a windshield. The individual resistance wires are partially embedded in the polymer sheet by a technique utilizing shrinkage of a thermoplastic polymer from its original dimensions when heated to an elevated temperature together with having the individual wires change configuration when relaxed from tension forces on the wire when first assembled with the polymer sheet. A method of forming the wire-incorporated polymer sheet member is also described along with equipment for automatically applying prestressed resistance wire to a thermoplastic sheet followed by heating the assembly under proper conditions to form the composite member.

摘要: A device for forming workpieces by pressure waves generated in a liquid by an undersurface spark discharge has two electrodes in the liquid and mutually separated so as to define a spark gap. A capacitor battery is connected across the electrodes and an ignitor is suspended between the electrodes in the spark gaps. The ignitor has a synthetic carrier thread made of thermoplastic and a thin metal ignition wire is embedded in the surface region of the latter. The ignitor wire has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the thread.

摘要: A method for producing solidified fiber bundles includes applying a melt or solution to a carrier web forming a viscous coating, applying parallel filaments under tension to the carrier web, and pressing the filaments into the viscous coating, forming an impregnate. The coating is partially solidified until a plastically deformable state of the impregnate is obtained by vaporizing the solvent, thermal curing and/or cooling. The impregnate is rolled onto a winding core to form a roll while maintaining a winding tension of the filaments in the impregnate. The outer roll is fixed on the winding core by a sleeve and/or by adhesive tape. The impregnate is solidified by vaporizing the solvent, thermal curing and/or cooling. The solidified impregnate is divided up to form solidified fiber bundles. A pressure produced by the winding tension of the filaments in the impregnate is exerted on the roll.

V-shaped grooves are formed on the exterior surface and become shallower from the cutting edge toward the base end. The wedge angle (α1) of the tooth-bottom line from the tooth-bottom cutting edge to the base end is greater than the wedge angle (α2) of the tooth-top cutting edge surface from the tooth-top cutting edges to the base end. The thickness (W1) of the tooth-bottom cutting edge is greater than the thickness (W2) of the tooth-top cutting edge on the base-side end.

The screw device is actuated in order to screw the screw-in insert into the fiber preform. The fiber preform is cured.

摘要: A method for fabricating polymeric sheets containing microwires includes encapsulating at least a portion of individual lengths of a plurality of microwires in a non-conductive polymeric sheet while the microwires are attached to the substrate. The microwires are then detached from the substrate without removing the microwires from the polymeric sheet. The detaching step forms a separated polymeric sheet containing the detached microwires. Individual detached microwires of the plurality are approximately perpendicular to the separated polymeric sheet. A microwire array device includes a non-conductive polymeric sheet and a plurality of microwires. Individual microwires of the plurality have an independent length at least partially encapsulated by the polymeric sheet, are approximately perpendicular to the polymeric sheet, and contain magnetic ferrite.

摘要: A system is described for reinforcing a thermoplastic workpiece including a subject surface and an underlying workpiece body volume. At least one substantially linear Z-pin having proximal and distal pin ends longitudinally separated by a pin body is provided. The proximal pin end is in direct contact with the subject surface. An ultrasonic energy source applies ultrasonic energy to the Z-pin to ultrasonically heat the Z-pin and thus locally melt the workpiece material of the subject surface and/or the workpiece body to create a melted workpiece material. The proximal pin end and at least a portion of the pin body of the Z-pin are penetrated into the melted workpiece material to create an inserted Z-pin length. The inserted Z-pin length is maintained in the workpiece body volume by solidified melted workpiece material around the inserted Z-pin length to reinforce the workpiece. A method of reinforcing a workpiece is also provided.
