Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a component (1, 2) consisting of a fibre-reinforced plastic and prepared for the welding of a metal component (4), which comprises at least one fibre element (2) impregnated with a plastic matrix, wherein at least some portions of at least one metal joining partner (1) are integrated into a fibre element, a first section of the joining partner (1) being surrounded by the fibres of the fibre element (2) such that it is in contact therewith, and a second section of the joining partner (1) projecting over a surface of the fibre element (2) or lying at least in the surface, the joining partner (1) being connected, by at least some portions, to the liquid and hardening plastic matrix, especially at least by the first section. The invention also relates to a metal joining partner for integrating into a component consisting of fibre-reinforced plastic in order to weld a metal component (4) thereto.

Abstract: A lacrosse head pocket and a related method of manufacture are provided. The pocket can be a molded pocket including individual molded strings, combined strings, shooting strings and support rails extending around a perimeter of the pocket. Certain pocket elements can include transition parts to smoothly transition components having different cross sections. The pocket can include a pre-formed ball channel and hole units having broadsides for connection to a head or other component. The pocket can be attached to a pocket frame, and optionally constructed from a mesh or other synthetic material that is tensioned with the pocket frame. A mold and related molding method are also provided.

Abstract: Peelable seals including porous inserts are described. An example peelable seal includes a porous insert positioned between a first sheet and a second sheet. The porous insert includes a plurality of interwoven strands and a plurality of pores adjacent the interwoven strands through which a bond is formed between the first sheet and the second sheet when heat is applied to at least one of the first sheet, the second sheet or the porous insert.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a thermoplastic polyurethane (“TPU”) infused mesh material that is molded to form at least a portion of a shoe. The TPU infused mesh may be formed as an upper, a portion of sole or other components of a shoe. The TPU infused mesh is formed, in an exemplary embodiment, through the application of liquid TPU to a surface of a spacer mesh. The liquid TPU infused spacer mesh is then cured, cut to a pattern, and heat molded to form a desired portion of the shoe. The heat molded TPU mesh is coupled to other portions of the shoe (e.g., sole) to form an article footwear in an exemplary embodiment.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, a carbon fiber structure is presented. The carbon fiber structure may address loads presented to an engine component in various directions. For instance, non-planar surfaces of a composite comprising a structure disclosed herein may achieve enhanced stiffness and/or strength. Thus, delamination of elements comprising a structure disclosed herein may be reduced. A three dimensional weave of carbon fiber elements through-thickness may provide enhanced strength to the composite material.
