Abstract: An apparatus for indicating a traffic hindrance risk, having a traffic hindrance information generating server that generates traffic hindrance information for links that define a driving route, and a weather information generating server that generates weather information from weather data distributed by a meteorological agency with respect to an area including the driving route. In the apparatus, a tabular data is generated together with congestion degree information by sorting foul weather information into a plurality of level categories in accordance with a degree of traffic hindrance when the weather information includes at least one item of foul weather information, and a traffic hindrance occurrence risk predictive value meaning possibility of traffic hindrance occurrence with respect to the driving route for a predetermined future period is calculated to be viewed by an operator of the vehicle.

Abstract: Vehicle-to-pedestrian information systems that use directional sound transmission on autonomous vehicles are disclosed. A cloud computing system manages messages for transmission to pedestrians via autonomous vehicles having directional speakers. The cloud computing system identifies pedestrians and identifies messages for the pedestrians. Pedestrians may be known and authenticated to the cloud computing system or may be unknown. The cloud computing system maintains profiles for known pedestrians and transmits messages to vehicles based on the profiles. The cloud computing system keeps track of the location of vehicles and causes the vehicles to use directional speakers to transmit messages to the pedestrians based on the relative positions of the vehicles and the pedestrians.

Abstract: An uttered speech of a user is acquired and recognized, and the recognition result is output. Evaluation information is generated from the recognition result. The position where the evaluation information is generated is detected. A reliability determining unit determines reliability of the evaluation information using post information posted on the Internet within a predetermined distance range based on the position where the evaluation information is generated within a predetermined period based on current date and time and determines whether the evaluation information is to be transmitted. A communication unit performs transmission, to the travel assistance server, of the evaluation information determined to be transmitted by the reliability determining unit, reception of the evaluation information stored in the travel assistance server, and reception of the post information posted on the Internet. An information providing unit provides the evaluation information received by the communication unit from the travel assistance server.

Abstract: Methods and systems for displaying a user interface that warns a driver that a vehicle is located within or is near a geographical area (and/or intersection) associated with a higher than average risk of animal-vehicle and/or vehicle-vehicle collisions are provided. According to certain aspects, an electronic device may access a database that identifies a plurality of high risk areas, including areas associated with prior vehicle accidents. The electronic device may display a virtual road map, as well as an icon indicating the vehicle's current location and a plurality of visual indications of high-risk areas. When the electronic device detects that the current location of the vehicle is within and/or approaching a high-risk area, the electronic device may then warn the driver about the higher than average risk of experiencing a vehicle collision.

Abstract: For a route server that generates route data for a route between a starting location and a destination location on a map, a method of compressing the route data that includes a maneuvering instruction for each of a plurality of junctures from the starting location to the destination location of the route is described. For a maneuvering instruction for each juncture of the route, the method determines whether the maneuvering instruction for the juncture is needed at a route client that is to receive the route data. When the maneuvering instruction for a particular juncture is determined not to be needed at the route client, the method modifies the route data by removing the maneuvering instruction for the particular juncture from the route data.

Abstract: A system for adjusting timing of coasting assistance provided by a vehicle that is approaching an intersection where the vehicle will turn or is programmed or scheduled to turn. The system includes a speed sensor configured to detect vehicle speed data. The system includes a pedal unit configured to detect brake pedal position data. The system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to detect when the brake pedal is engaged and released. The ECU is configured to detect a vehicle speed when the brake pedal is released. The ECU is configured to determine, at a determination time, whether the intersection is a green light intersection or a red light intersection. The ECU is configured to detect, at an application time, when the vehicle is approaching the intersection. The system also includes a display configured to display, at the application time, a coasting assistance instruction.
