Abstract: A higher accuracy ADC circuit (e.g., in which the number of bits of the ADC circuit is twelve or greater) may need calibration multiple times during its working life to avoid bit weight errors. Described are techniques to address DAC element ratio errors between DAC element clusters in a DAC circuit in order to maintain the linear performance of analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuits and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) circuits.

Abstract: Actuators are used to move a variety of objects to desired positions. It is generally desirable that they can do this quickly without exhibiting overshoot or ringing. Some actuators are required to respond very quickly and examples of these are voice coil drivers used to move lenses in autofocus cameras provided in everyday devices such as smart phones and tablets. A rapid two step controller scheme had already been disclosed by Analog Devices Inc. While the scheme works well, it can only be used reliably if the resonant frequency of the actuator is known to within 2 or 3%. The inventors have discovered that the resonant frequency of an actuator unexpectedly changes as a function of position. This disclosure provides ways of modifying the control scheme to cope with changes in resonant frequency.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for a difference amplifier are provided. In certain examples, the difference amplifier can provide high common mode rejection without differential signal attenuation. In an example, a difference amplifier circuit can include first and second amplifiers, first and second buffer amplifiers, a first feedback voltage divider coupled between an output of the first buffer amplifier and an output of the second amplifier, and a second feedback voltage divider coupled between an output of the second buffer amplifier and an output of the first amplifier.

Abstract: A method of reducing the noise from a transmitter at an associated receiver is disclosed. Noise contributions in active channels are identified and used to update a shared noise cancellation filter. Excluding signals from inactive channels speeds up the filter convergence to a near optimal solution. Sharing a filter across multiple channels reduces component count and power consumption.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a PTAT voltage reference circuit and a temperature independent voltage reference circuit in which the effect of transistor base currents on the circuit output is compensated for. This is achieved by a pair of compensation resistors. The base current from one of the pair of transistors is used to increase the voltage drop across one of the compensation resistors. The base current from the other of the pair of transistors is used to decrease the voltage drop across another of the compensation resistors, by an equal amount. The compensation resistors are connected in series with the resistor which reflects the difference in base-emitter voltage (ΔVBE). The circuit output is measured across the series connected resistors. As such, the base currents are compensated for at the output.

Abstract: A high isolation wideband switch is disclosed. In one aspect, the switch includes an integrated circuit package having an integrated circuit die with a first plurality of leads that is positioned on a package substrate that has a second plurality of leads. The first leads of the integrated circuit die are connected to the second the leads of the package substrate via bond wires and a first electrical coupling occurs between the first leads and the integrated circuit die in response to an RF signal applied to the integrated circuit package. The bond wires have a second electrical coupling in response to the RF signal and the bond wires are arranged such that the second electrical coupling is matched to the first electrical coupling within a selected frequency band so as to reduce the overall electrical coupling of the integrated circuit package for RF signals within the selected frequency band.

Abstract: Systems and methods of monitoring electrodermal activity (EDA) in human subjects suitable for use in wearable electronic devices. An EDA monitoring system can include first and second dry electrodes, an alternating current (AC) excitation signal source, a trans-impedance amplifier, an analog-to-digital (A-to-D) converter, a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) processor, and a microprocessor. The AC excitation signal source can produce an AC excitation signal having a predetermined excitation frequency, such as about 100 or 120 Hertz (Hz). The analog-to-digital (A-to-D) converter can include a sample-and-hold circuit that operates at a predetermined sampling frequency, such as about four times (4×) the predetermined excitation frequency of 100 or 120 Hz. The DFT processor can generate complex frequency domain representations of digitized, sampled voltage level sequences provided by the A-to-D converter for use in obtaining measures of a user's skin impedance or skin conductance.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided that can estimate a transfer function, for example of current measurement systems, voltage measurement systems and power measurement systems, and also provide an estimate of certainty about the transfer function. This enables customers to have confidence that they are not being overcharged for electricity.
