The invention relates to a laminar microporous crystalline zeolite material known as ITQ-30 which, as when synthesized, has a chemical composition in the anhydrous state with the following molar relations: x (M1/n XO2):y YO2:SiO2:z R, wherein: x represents a value less than 0.1, which can be equal to zero; y has a value of less than 0.1, which can be equal to zero; z has a value of less than 0.1; M is selected from among H+, NH4+, one or more +n inorganic cations and combinations of same; X represents one or more +3 oxidation state chemical elements; Y represents one or more +4 oxidation state chemical elements; and R represents one or more organic compounds. The invention also relates to the method of preparing said zeolite, involving the use of one or more organic additives in a reaction mixture which is crystallized by means of heating, and to the use thereof in processes for the separation and transformation of organic compounds.

A method for preparation of the material and its use as a catalyst in organic compound separation and transformation processes is also described.

The invention refers to a process for the obtainment of a catalyst useful in the isomerization of light paraffins, fundamentally based on acid treatment of a synthetic mordenite at temperatures between 40.degree. and 100.degree. C. followed by treatment with steam-air at temperatures between 300.degree. and 600.degree. C. which make it possible to optimize the SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 framework ratio and the amount of extraframework aluminum of the zeolite. The mordenite thus obtained is mixed with an inorganic refractory oxide such as Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and a metal of group VIII, basically Pt, is added in an amount between 0.1 and 0.5% by weight referred to the final catalyst.The catalyst has been tested in the isomerization of light refinery fractions (C.sub.5 and C.sub.6) and has a high activity and selectivity of branched isomers with a low production of gases and a high octane number for the light gasoline obtained.

The further desulphurization material includes one or more nickel compounds, a zinc oxide support material, and optionally one or more promoter metal compounds of iron, cobalt, copper and precious metals. The desulphurization material has a nickel content in the range 0.3 to 20% by weight and a promoter metal compound content in the range 0 to 10% by weight.

The desulfurization material may be used to desulfurize hydrocarbon gas streams with reduced levels of hydrocarbon hydrogenolysis.

Novel catalytic compositions for cracking of crude oil fractions are disclosed. The catalytic compositions comprise a basic material. When used in a cracking process, preferably a FCC process, the resulting LCO and HCO fractions have desirably low aromatics levels. Further disclosed is a one-stage FCC process using the catalytic composition of the invention. Also disclosed is a two-stage FCC process for maximizing the LCO yield.
