摘要: Disclosed herein are visible light curable coating compositions that provide transparent and abrasion-resistant coatings when cured on a substrate. The coating compositions comprise a difunctional acrylate monomer, a multifunctional urethane acrylate, a mercapto modified polyester acrylate, an organic solvent, a sole photoinitiator that is activated in the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum, and optionally, a colloidal silica component. This invention also relates to articles coated with the visible light curable coating compositions of the invention and processes for preparation of such coated polymeric substrates, such as processes for surface restoration of mounted parts, such as surface restoration of automotive headlamps.

摘要: A method of forming a self-cleaning film system includes depositing a photocatalytic material onto a substrate to form a first layer. The method also includes disposing a photoresist onto the first layer and then exposing the photoresist to light so that the photoresist has a developed portion and an undeveloped portion. The method includes removing the undeveloped portion so that the developed portion protrudes from the first layer. After removing, the method includes depositing a perfluorocarbon siloxane polymer onto the first layer to surround and contact the developed portion. After depositing the perfluorocarbon siloxane polymer, the method includes removing the developed portion to thereby form the self-cleaning film system.

摘要: A method for application of a metal on a substrate comprises a) contacting at least a part of the surface of the substrate with at least one initiator, and polymerizable units with the ability to undergo a chemical reaction to form a polymer, the polymer comprising at least one charged group, wherein the contacting is achieved by contacting a pad with a plate comprising the at least one initiator and the polymerizable units and subsequently contacting the pad with the surface of the substrate, thereby transferring the at least one initiator and the polymerizable units to the surface of the substrate. Subsequently a metal layer is produced on the surface. The compactness of the applied metal layer is increased.

摘要: Preparations of a polyurethane and/or polyurea and a copolymer which are hydrophobic contain at least one conversion product (S), at least one copolymer (C), optionally at least one (blocked) polyisocyanate, optionally a solvent, and optionally at least one surface-active substance. The conversion product (S) may be the reaction product of at least one compound (A) with at least one unblocked or at least partially blocked di-, tri- or polyisocyanate (IC). The compound A may be the reaction product of a polyhydric alcohol with a carboxylic acid or with an alkylisocyanate, or a reaction product of an alkanolamine and/or alkylamine (a3) with a carboxylic acid and/or alkylisocyanate. The highly hydrophobic preparations may be applied to textiles without negatively influencing a subsequent adhesion of the textile substrate or the membrane permeability of the substrate even after thermal treatment, and exhibit very good wash permanence on the substrates.

A nonlimiting example of the method includes the operations of providing a workpiece having grains, exasperating a surface of the workpiece to open the grains, applying at least one coat of a base paint to the exasperated surface, applying at least one layer of clear coat on the base paint, applying at least one of a glaze and a paint on the clear coat, and surface treating to reveal grains of the workpiece. Disclosed also are items of furniture and sheet materials treated by the aforementioned process.

摘要: Improved aluminum can end stock (CES) is disclosed. The CES includes an adhered polymer coating exhibiting low feathering and high performance in various acid tests. The low feathering and resistance to acid tests is accomplished by incorporating a copolymer adhesion promoter film to an aluminum alloy before lamination. In some cases, the metal strip is pretreated with a conversion layer, which can include compounds of trivalent chromium (Cr(III)) and phosphates or titanium and zirconium.

摘要: A device for processing a strip guided along a running direction may include a roller holder disposed on a base frame so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis oriented substantially parallel to a strip running surface. A first processing roller may be disposed on the roller holder in the running direction and at a distance from the pivot axis perpendicular to the running direction and offset from the pivot axis such that by pivoting the roller holder, the first processing roller is moved toward the strip and the processing roller is moved away from the strip. A first counter-processing roller may be disposed transversely to the running direction at a further distance from the pivot axis than the first processing roller such that the first processing and counter-processing rollers interact to guide the strip if the first processing roller is moved toward the strip.
