摘要： A transgenic mouse having somatic and germ cells in which at least one allele of an endogenous interleukin-1.beta. converting enzyme (ICE) gene is functionally disrupted is provided. The mouse may be heterozygous or, more preferably, homozygous for the ICE gene disruption. In homozygous mice, secretion of mature interleukin-1.beta. and interleukin-1.alpha. is substantially reduced relative to non-mutant mice. The mice of the invention can be used as positive controls to evaluate the efficacy of ICE inhibitors and to identify disease conditions that can be treated with ICE inhibitors. A transgenic mouse having functionally disrupted endogenous ICE genes but which has been reconstituted with a human ICE gene is also provided. This mouse can be used to identify agents that inhibit human ICE in vivo. Nucleic acid constructs for functionally disrupting an endogenous ICE gene in a host cell, recombinant vectors including the nucleic acid construct, and host cells into which the nucleic acid construct has been introduced are also encompassed by the invention.

This bypass capacitor circuit is electrically in contact with the emitter fingers of the bipolar junction transistor.

摘要： The voice over data component of a personal communications system enables the operator to simultaneously transmit voice and data communication to a remote site. This voice over data function dynamically allocates data bandwidth over the telephone line depending on the demands of the voice grade digitized signal. The user may enter voice over data mode from a data transfer mode by lifting the handset of the telephone connected to the modem. The off-hook condition is sensed and software sends a supervisory packet to the remote site to invoke voice-over-data mode. The remote telephone will simulate a ring to alert the remote user, and the local telephone will simulate a ringback to inform the caller that the remote unit is responding.

摘要： A personal communications system is described which includes components of software and hardware operating in conjunction with a personal computer. The user interface control software operates on a personal computer, preferably within the Microsoft Windows.RTM. environment. The software control system communicates with hardware components linked to the software through the personal computer serial communications port. The hardware components include telephone communication equipment, digital signal processors, and hardware to enable voice, fax and data communication with a remote site connected through a standard telephone line. The functions of the hardware components are controlled by control software operating within the hardware component and from the software components operating within the personal computer. The major functions of the system are a telephone function, a voice mail function, a fax manager function, a multi-media mail function, a show and tell function, a terminal function and an address book function. The telephone function allows the present system to operate, from the users perspective, as a conventional telephone using either hands-free, headset or handset operation. The telephone function is more sophisticated than a standard telephone in that the present system converts the voice into a digital signal which can be processed with echo cancellation, compressed, stored as digital data for later retrieval and transmitted as digital voice data concurrent with the transfer of digital information data.

摘要： An integrated impedance matching circuit is disclosed using a flip chip process and a heterlithic microwave integrated circuit (HMIC). In a preferred embodiment, a silicon microwave power transistor is flip chip mounted on a glass substrate having a ground plane and silicon pedestals 404 selectively etched and having glass disposed about the silicon pedestals to form the substrate. The glass substrate of the present invention is finely ground and polished to enable VLSI techniques for mass production fabrication. To this end, photolithography and deposition techniques well-known in the art are utilized to effect impedance matching circuitry. Because the input impedance of the Si power transistor is relatively low, by using the flip chip technique the precision of the impedance matching circuit can be effected without the use of wire bonds which must be tuned in a labor intensive manner. Finally, the silicon pedestals of the present invention are used as an electrical ground for the common base as well and as a thermal sink for the system.

摘要： A method for dynamically changing the polling process of a single microprocessor within a modem. An additional step is added into the main polling loop that checks the amount of data in the transmit and receive buffers. If one buffer is empty, additional polling cycles are performed to service the other buffer. The number of additional cycles is dependent on how full the buffer is. If both buffers contain data, no change is made in the polling process and both are serviced with equal priority.

摘要： Disclosed is a sealing cover, which is suitable for sealing an opening of a container, comprising an extrusion lid and a flexible sealing ring, wherein the container has an opening, the extrusion lid comprises an outer cover, an inner shield cover, a screw rod and a knob, the outer cover covers the opening, and the inner shield cover is arranged in the opening and is located under the outer cover; the screw rod movably penetrates the outer cover, the lower end of the screw rod is fixedly connected to the inner shield cover, and the upper end of the screw rod is connected in a threaded manner to the knob; and the flexible sealing ring is sheathed on the screw rod and is located between the outer cover and the inner shield cover, and when the knob is rotated, the screw rod drives the inner shield cover to move upwards and squeezes the flexible sealing ring to force the flexible sealing ring to be attached to an inner circumferential wall of the opening after expansion to form a seal.
