    Abstract: A measuring device is provided for reducing the occurrence of damage to a sensor section. The sensor section includes a substrate, a pair of comb electrodes on a first principal surface, and a pair of back-side electrodes disposed on a second principal surface and corresponding to the pair of comb electrodes, respectively. The pair of comb electrodes includes a plurality of tooth sections and connection sections that connect the tooth sections to each other, respectively. The substrate includes via-hole conductors in positions corresponding to the tooth sections inside a region surrounded by the outer tooth sections on opposite ends in a direction in which the tooth sections in the pair of comb electrodes are aligned and the connection sections. The via-hole conductors connect the comb electrodes and the back-side electrodes.

    Abstract: Apparatus (30) for detecting motion of a device (1) for electrical stimulation of a subject is described. The apparatus (30) comprises a motion detector (2) to detect the motion of the device (1) and generate a motion output signal in response to the detected motion. The motion output signal is indicative of the amount of detected motion. A processor (21) is coupled to the motion detector (20). The processor (21) receives (72) the motion output signal from the motion detector (20) and generates a first processor output signal in response to the received motion output signal. An output device (14, 26) is coupled to the processor (21). The output device (14, 26) receives the first processor output signal from the processor (21) and generates a first output signal in response to the received first processor output signal. The processor (21) generates the first processor output signal if either: (i) the received motion output signal is greater than a threshold; or (ii) the received motion output signal is less than a threshold.

    Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring for accumulation of lung fluid comprises a feeding tube having first electrode(s) positioned thereon for electrical contact with tissue of an esophagus of a target patient including a lower esophageal sphincter (LES) and/or tissue in proximity to the LES, second electrode(s) sized and shaped for contacting skin of the target patient, and a non-transitory memory having stored thereon code instructions for applying alternating current(s) to pair(s) of first and second electrodes, measuring a voltage over the pair(s), and computing an estimate of a change of lung fluid relative to a baseline in lung(s) of the target patient according to the applied alternating current and measured voltage, wherein the applying, the measuring, and the computing the estimate of the change in lung fluid are iteratively executed for monitoring the target patient for accumulation of lung fluid while the feeding tube is in use.
