Abstract: Apparatus (30) for detecting motion of a device (1) for electrical stimulation of a subject is described. The apparatus (30) comprises a motion detector (2) to detect the motion of the device (1) and generate a motion output signal in response to the detected motion. The motion output signal is indicative of the amount of detected motion. A processor (21) is coupled to the motion detector (20). The processor (21) receives (72) the motion output signal from the motion detector (20) and generates a first processor output signal in response to the received motion output signal. An output device (14, 26) is coupled to the processor (21). The output device (14, 26) receives the first processor output signal from the processor (21) and generates a first output signal in response to the received first processor output signal. The processor (21) generates the first processor output signal if either: (i) the received motion output signal is greater than a threshold; or (ii) the received motion output signal is less than a threshold.

Abstract: The invention provides a system for characterizing fluids in a tissue located in a portion of a patient. The system features an impedance system that includes a current-injecting electrode that injects an electrical current into the portion of the patient and a signal-measuring electrode that measures an impedance signal affected by the injected electrical current and an amount of the fluids. At least one of the electrodes includes an alignment feature that, during use, is aligned on the portion using a marking on the portion. The system also includes a processing system that receives the impedance signal from the impedance system or a signal determined from it. It then processes the signal to determine a parameter related to the degree of fluids in the tissue. The marking, for example, can be a permanent or semi-permanent marking, such as a tattoo.

Abstract: A system for sensing one or more physiological traits and obstetric conditions, such as a fertility phase, pregnancy, labor, post-partum conditions, and other conditions related to the reproductive system of the patient. The system may use the one or more physiological traits sensed to define one or more patient attributes for the patient, such as a hormone level, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration rate, temperature, oxygen saturation level, uterine contractions, fluid level, and/or other patient attributes. The system is configured to compare the one or more patient attributes to one or more attribute signs describing a threshold for the one or more patient attributes. The system is configured to issue a communication to the patient and/or a clinician based on the comparisons. The system may be configured to assess and indicate reproductive phases for the patient over a life-cycle from the fertility phase to the post-partum phase.

Abstract: Apparatus for performing impedance measurements on a subject. The apparatus includes a first processing system for determining an impedance measurement procedure and determining instructions corresponding to the measurement procedure. A second processing system is provided for receiving the instructions, using the instructions to generate control signals, with the control signals being used to apply one or more signals to the subject. The second processing system then receives first data indicative of the one or more signals applied to the subject, second data indicative of one or more signals measured across the subject and performs at least preliminary processing of the first and second data to thereby allow impedance values to be determined.
