Abstract:
In accordance with systems and methods of the present disclosure, an audio device may include an electrical terminal, an audio circuit, and a transducer load detection circuit. The electrical terminal may couple a transducer device to the audio device. The audio circuit may generate an analog audio signal, wherein the analog audio signal is coupled to the electrical terminal The transducer load detection circuit may detect a load impedance of the transducer device when the transducer device is coupled to the audio device from characteristics measured at the electrical terminal.
Abstract:
A DC servo loop may track DC offset changes of an input signal and apply feedback to amplifiers to adjust a DC offset of the input signal. The DC servo loop may include digital loop tracking and analog loop tracking components. The digital loop tracking components may track small changes in the DC offset. When the DC offset exceeds a certain threshold, analog loop tracking may be activated to apply feedback to the amplifiers to adjust the DC offset. The adjustments to the DC offset may be delayed until an amplitude of the input signal exceeds a threshold to reduce contribution to noise in the input signal.
Abstract:
An energy-efficient consumer device audio power output stage with gain control provides improved battery life and reduced power dissipation without clipping the audio output signal. A control circuit controls a power supply that supplies the power supply rails to the power amplified output stage. The voltage of the power supply rails is controlled in conformity with an input audio signal level, which may be determined from a volume control setting of the device and/or from a signal level detector that determines the amplitude of the signal being amplified. The gain applied to the audio input signal is reduced for a predetermined time period when a higher output voltage of the power supply is selected, to avoid clipping the audio output signal.
Abstract:
A method may include providing a power supply voltage to a power supply input of a power amplifier by a charge pump power supply having a select input for selecting an operating mode of the charge pump power supply, such that in a first operating mode, the power supply voltage is equal to a first voltage, and such that in a second operating mode the power supply voltage is equal to a fraction of the first voltage; wherein the power amplifier has an audio input for receiving an audio input signal, and an audio output for providing the output signal, and generates the output signal based on the audio input signal. The method may also include selecting an operating mode of the charge pump power supply based on a magnitude of the power supply voltage and a magnitude of the output signal, such that the charge pump power supply operated in the operating mode having the lowest power supply voltage in which a difference between a magnitude of the power supply voltage and a magnitude of the output signal is more than the predetermined threshold voltage.

Abstract:
Responsive to the absence of a reference clock input signal to a clock conditioning circuit for generating a desired clock signal for synchronizing components of an audio signal path, a controller may cause the signal path to receive at the clock input a substitute clock signal in the absence of the reference clock input signal and may modify one or more parameters of the signal path in order to perform one or more of the following: (i) reduce the presence of audio artifacts in the output signal caused by the absence of the reference clock input signal; (ii) power down at least one component of the signal path to reduce power consumed by the signal path; (iii) continue to operate the signal path with the substitute clock signal; and (iv) transition the signal path to a mute condition or a zero volume condition.
