摘要: This invention provides means for identifying maize plants having resistance to the European corn borer (ECB). Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) marker probes which are genetically linked to loci which condition ECB resistance are provided. These probes are useful in breeding programs to identify ECB resistant gene types and thus allow the resistance traits to be introduced into non-resistant or less resistant corn varieties.

摘要: A set of nucleic acid probes useful for tracking Maize Dwarf Mosaic Virus Resistance (MDMV), a polygenic trait, is provided. Chromosome segments are identified enabling isolation of the genes governing this trait.A general method for identifying probes useful for tracking and introgressing polygenic traits into elite genomes and identifying chromosome segments governing the traits is also provided. This method involves the analysis of RFLP polymorphisms between parent donor and recipient genotypes and observed phenotypic data using multiple regression by leaps and bounds ("leaps"), followed by standard multiple regression applied to the "leaps" data. The "leaps" data may be used to identify flanking markers, and epistasis may be determined by analysis of the multiple regression data.Kits comprising a subset of the most useful probes (those most closely linked to the trait of interest) are provided. The kits may also comprise flanking probes. Flanking probes used in combination with the most closely linked probes are useful in identifying situations in which donor DNA tends to move in clumps and recovering rare individuals in which traits of interest have separated from surrounding donor DNA, so that elite recipient DNA may be maximized.

摘要: The invention relates to a composition containing a catalyst suitable for producing ethylene and other C2+ hydrocarbons at high selectivity while improving both methane conversion and product yield. Particularly, the catalyst contains mixed metal oxides having at least one alkali earth metal and at least one rare earth metal along with an alkali metal promoter in the form of an alkali metal or in the form of an alkali metal tungstate. The invention further provides a method for preparing such a composition, using a calcination process to calcine the alkali metal promoters together with mixed metal oxides. Additionally, the invention further describes a process for producing C2+ hydrocarbons, using such a composition.

摘要: A seal particularly suitable for the bottom of a garage door has a rigid base portion made of a plastic material that is fastened to the bottom of the garage door and a flexible U-shaped seal portion made of a plastic material that is integral with and preferably coextruded with the base portion. An attachment area is provided on the base portion for fastening to the garage door and a side section on the base portion is provided for locating the seal relative to the garage door. The seal can be attached after the garage door sections have been banded for shipping and storage, preventing distortion of the seal portion.

摘要: A double sided electrical connection flexible circuit particularly useful as a substrate for an area array integrated package, and the method of fabricating the structure is described. A circuit having interconnections on one surface and solder ball contact pads on the second surface are interconnected by copper plated from a single surface in order to avoid entrapment of air pockets. In one embodiment, the conductive vias are formed from a copper film which extends from the solder ball contact pads, which may be indented, providing a well for solder balls in the contact pad.

摘要: A plurality of stages is employed to reduce the total organic carbon (TOC) content of a brine by-product stream to produce a recyclable brine stream having a TOC content of less than about 10 ppm. In a first stage treatment, a brine by-product stream may be subjected to chlorinolysis at a temperature of less than about 125 0C to obtain a chlorinolysis product having a TOC content of less than about 100 ppm, which may be treated in a second stage with activated carbon to obtain a TOC content of less than about 10 ppm. The chlorinolysis may be a reaction with sodium hypochlorite, which may be produced in situ by treatment of the brine by-product stream with chlorine gas and sodium hydroxide. The brine by-product stream may contain a high amount of difficult to remove glycerin, such as a brine by-product stream from the production of epichlorohydrin from glycerin.
