摘要： An electrical interconnection, which includes a method for fabricating the device, is disclosed. The interconnection comprises two contact surfaces, on at least one of which is disposed at least one conical projection in predetermined dimension and location. Rather than being permanently cojoined, the contact surfaces are attachable and detachable when desired. The individual conical projections are comprised of an ablative material, and at least some of the conical projections include a surface which is substantially comprised of material in a thickness capable of making ohmic contact, either by wiping with an intermeshing like structure or by contacting a substantially flat contact pad. An interconnection, in this invention, is the combination of at least one contact having individual conical projections and another contact, optionally having individual conical projections. The conical projections are formed by laser. The conical projections are optionally formed on the head of a contact pin.

摘要： An improved chemical vapor deposition method for depositing transparent continuous coatings of sp.sup.3 -bonded diamond-type carbon films, comprising: a) providing a volatile hydrocarbon gas/H.sub.2 reactant mixture in a cold wall vacuum/chemical vapor deposition chamber containing a suitable substrate for said films, at pressure of about 1 to 50 Torr; and b) directing a concentrated solar flux of from about 40 to about 60 watts/cm.sup.2 through said reactant mixture to produce substrate temperatures of about 750.degree. C. to about 950.degree. C. to activate deposition of the film on said substrate.

摘要： An electrical interconnection, which includes a method for fabricating the device, is disclosed. An interconnection, in this invention, is the combination of at least one contact having individual conical projections and another contact, optionally having individual conical projections. The conical projections are formed in metal by electrochemical machining in neutral salt solution, optionally in a continuous foil. The conical projections are also optionally formed on the head of a contact pin.

摘要： A seal arrangement for a gear machine includes a thrust plate for reducing the cross face leakage of fluid from a high pressure side to a low pressure side of a gear machine. A first groove and a second groove are formed in the thrust plate for receiving a first seal assembly and a second seal assembly, respectively. The first groove generally defines the numeral "8" with lateral sides spaced from one another and includes a top segment and a bottom segment. Each of the segments has an extension at each of its ends. The second groove generally defines a geometric form located between the lateral sides of the first groove and has its center spaced generally equidistant between the top and bottom segments. The first groove and the first seal assembly are arranged to form four chambers. Three of these chambers confine pressurized fluid therein for each direction of rotation of the machine, thereby urging the plate toward localized sealing engagement with the gears of the machine. The second groove and the second seal assembly are arranged to form a fifth pressure chamber to confine pressurized fluid for either direction of machine rotation. This chamber likewise urges the plate toward localized sealing engagement with the gears of the machine. Two embodiments are disclosed.

A method for manufacturing a gear arrangement includes fabricating a first gear, which includes a first plurality of teeth, and a bearing from a compliant material. The method also includes mounting a second gear, which includes a second plurality of teeth, to the bearing, aligning the first plurality of teeth with the second plurality of teeth, and coupling the first gear with the second gear.

摘要： A worm/worm gear assembly comprises a worm having teeth defined by at least one thread disposed thereon and a worm gear having teeth protruding from a surface thereof. At least one of the worm and the worm gear is fabricated from a resilient material. The teeth of the worm and the teeth of the worm gear are interengaged and in a compressive relationship with each other to maintain double flank contact therebetween. At low- or no-load conditions, the double flank contact is made at the opposing outer edges of each of the teeth. At moderate-load conditions, the contact extends from the opposing outer edges of each of the teeth toward the center of each of the teeth. A method for delashing a gear system comprises disposing the worm in mechanical communication with the worm gear and loading the worm gear to cause the worm gear to compressively engage the worm.
