    摘要: A method of producing soot containing high amounts of fullerenes comprising: providing a primary concentrator capable of impingement of a concentrated beam of sunlight onto a carbon source to cause vaporization of carbon and subsequent formation of fullerenes, or providing a solar furnace having a primary concentrator with a focal point that concentrates a solar beam of sunlight; providing a reflective secondary concentrator having an entrance aperture and an exit aperture at the focal point of the solar furnace; providing a carbon source at the exit aperture of the secondary concentrator; supplying an inert gas over the carbon source to keep the secondary concentrator free from vaporized carbon; and impinging a concentrated beam of sunlight from the secondary concentrator on the carbon source to vaporize the carbon source into a soot containing high amounts of fullerenes.

    摘要: Apparatus for deforming the surface of a cylindrical metal portion of a workpiece at and adjacent its end includes a rotating disk having radially extending slots. Slide members having roller deforming tools rotatably journalled at one end are positioned in a respective slot with the tool disposed radially inwardly, the tools having axes of rotation parallel to the axis of rotation of the disk. A follower member is fastened to the other end of the slide member and extends outwardly from the slot beyond the circumference of the disk. The disk is mounted within an annular shell having a tapered internal cam surface varying in diameter in the axial direction. The shell is mounted for rotation with the disk but axially moveable relative to the disk. Abutment members are positioned behind the rear surface of the shell and is driven axially to force the shell to move in the axial direction to drive the followers and thus the tools radially inwardly against the surface of the workpiece which is clamped along the axis of the disk by a power driven vise. When the force applied to the abutment member is reversed springs between the disk and the shell return the shell to the initial position.

    摘要: An electrical interconnection, which includes a method for fabricating the device, is disclosed. The interconnection comprises two contact surfaces, on at least one of which is disposed at least one solid metal conical projection in predetermined dimension and location. Rather than necessarily being permanently cojoined, the contact surfaces are attachable and detachable when desired. The conical projections on one contact surface make ohmic contact, either by wiping with an intermeshing like structure on a second contact surface or by contacting a second contact surface which is a substantially flat contact pad. An interconnection, in this invention, is the combination of at least one contact having individual conical projections and another contact, optionally having individual conical projections. The conical projections are formed in metal by electrochemical machining in neutral salt solution, optionally in a continuous foil. The conical projections are also optionally formed on the head of a contact pin.
