    摘要: A Baby Monitoring Mat is provided having a top mesh layer, a bottom mesh layer, two flexible sheets, and an optical cable. The optical cable can be routed between the top mesh layer and the bottom mesh layer. The flexible sheets are also between the top mesh layer and the bottom mesh layer forming a sensing area. A light source is provided for feeding light from one side of the optical cable to a photodiode for detecting light attenuation at the other end of the optical cable. A processor receives signals from the light source and photodiode and the signals are processed to determine movements and breath counts. The signals are generated based on the light attenuation changes along the optical fiber cable detected by photodiode. A method for monitoring baby on a mat is also provided.

    摘要: The present invention provides a baby monitoring mat having a sensor mat having a top mesh layer, a bottom mesh layer, and two flexible sheets and an optical cable, wherein the optical cable is routed across and sandwiched in between the top mesh layer and the bottom mesh layer, and the flexible sheets further sandwiched the top mesh layer and the bottom mesh layer in between forming sensing area across the flexible sheet surface; a light source for feeding light from one side of the optical cable; a photodiode for detecting light attenuation at the other end of the optical cable; a printed circuit board having a processor connected to the light source and the photodiode, wherein the processor operationally receives signals from the photodiode, the signals are processed to determine movements and breath counts. The signals are generated based on the light attenuation changes along the optical fiber cable detected by photodiode, the light attenuation changes are operationally caused by the optical fiber bending lost caused by the movements and breath. A method for monitoring baby on a mat is also provided.

    摘要: The present invention relates to the generation of vascularized human heart tissue from human primordial Islet1-positive (ISL1+) progenitors, and more particularly the generation of vascularized human heart tissue from human primordial Islet1+ cardiovascular stem cells which are positive for markers ISL1+/NKX2.5−/KDR−. One aspect of the invention relates to isolation of human ISL1+ primordial cells from human pluripotent cells, such as human ES cells or other human pluripotent stem cell sources, wherein the human ISL1+ primordial cells can differentiate into three different lineages; cardiomyocyte lineages, endothelial lineages and smooth muscle lineages. Another aspect relates to use and implantation of the human primordial ISL1+ progenitors into an animal model to generate human vascularized heart tissue, and more particularly, the production of an in vivo humanized model of vascular disease. One embodiment relates to the use of an in vivo humanized model of vascular disease as an assay, for example to assess drug toxicity and/or identify agents which increase and decrease coronary blood flow to the human vascularized heart tissue. Another embodiment relates to the therapeutic use of human primordial ISL1+ progenitors, for example, in one embodiment the invention provides methods for the treatment cardiovascular disorders and/or congenital heart disease in a subject comprising transplanting into subjects vascularized human heart tissue generated from human ISL1+ progenitors.

    摘要: A method is provided for screening for agents that affect protein degradation rates, the method comprising: taking a library of cells, the cells expressing a fusion protein comprising a reporter protein and a protein encoded by a sequence from a cDNA library derived from a sample of cells, the sequence from the cDNA library varying within the cell library; contacting the library of cells with a plurality of agents which may affect protein degradation rates; for each agent, selecting cells in the library which express short-lived proteins based on whether the cells have different reporter signal intensities than other cells in the library, the difference being indicative of the selected cells expressing shorter lived fusion proteins than the fusion proteins expressed by the other cells in the library; and characterizing the fusion proteins expressed by the selected cells for each agent.
