摘要: Coiled spinal implants for disc, vertebral body, and spinal motion segment replacement or reconstruction comprise a plurality of loops and spaces between the loops, with the loops formed of a hollow material and having a plurality of apertures or a longitudinal gap that extend(s) through the sidewalls of the loops and into the hollow center. The coiled implants include one or more balloons within the hollow center, the spaces between the coil loops, and/or within the central void that the coil surrounds. Filling the balloon expands the loops and thereby increases the height of the coil. Bone graft material or bone cement may be deployed from the apertures or gap.

摘要: Systems for minimally invasive disc augmentation include an anulus augmentation component and a nucleus augmentation component. Both are suited for minimally invasive deployment. The nucleus augmentation component restores disc height and/or replaces missing nucleus pulposus. The anulus augmentation component shields weakened regions of the anulus fibrosis and/or resists escape of natural nucleus pulposus and/or the augmentation component. Methods and deployment devices are also disclosed. Method of supporting and augmenting a nucleus pulposus by inserting a flexible biocompatible material into the disc space using an anchoring means are also provided.

摘要: An embodiment provides an implant prosthesis. In some cases, the prosthesis can take the form of an implant strip that may be implanted through the use of a surgical procedure that minimizes incision sizes and may be considered less invasive than typical spinal implant procedures. In one aspect, a spinal prosthesis may include an implant strip including a first portion comprising a first lateral side portion and a second lateral side portion, and a second portion separating the first lateral side portion from the second lateral side portion, with the first and second lateral side portions configured to engage a first and second vertebra, with a first longitudinal portion of the implant strip forming a first inner coil, with a second longitudinal portion forming a second outer coil, and with the second outer coil spaced radially outward of the first inner coil, wherein the second portion deflects before the first portion under compressive and tensile forces.

摘要: The invention provides a system and method for treating an orthopedic condition using a hydrogel-forming composition, which forms a hydrogel in situ at a target location and at least bio-mechanically treats the condition. The invention also provides a hydrogel forming composition designed to form a hydrogel with desirable biocompatible and biomechanical properties. In some aspects the hydrogel is formed in a water-permeable casing, which is delivered to an orthopedic joint in a minimally invasive manner. In particular, the system and method can be used for intervertebral disc replacement or repair.
