    摘要: A coating method which reduces the nonuniformity of a sprayed coating film at an end portion of a moving workpiece. A spray gun moves along a locus in a direction transverse to a conveying direction of the workpiece. The dimensions of the workpiece and passage of an end portion of the workpiece past the spray gun are detected. A reduced amount of coating material is sprayed at an end portion of the workpiece in response to the determination of passage of the end portion past the spray gun in order to prevent an increase in thickness of the coating film at the end portion. In the case of electrostatic spraying, an increase in film thickness at the end portion can be prevented by reducing or nullifying the electrostatic voltage applied to the end portion of the workpiece.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a powder distributor for electrostatic painting provided with reciprocating vertical movement, wherein the powder in mixture with air reaches the center of a sectional element, for example a disk, which disperses it evenly over its perimetral rim.The distributor comprises a reservoir divided into two chambers by an intermediate porous septum, a first, upper chamber into which a first, powder-in-air suspension feed circuit debouches, and a second, lower chamber into which a second, compressed air feed conduit debouches. Provision can also be made for a third conduit, for compressed air feed, the compressed air being in such case discharged parallel to the direction of discharge of the powder suspension.

    摘要: A reciprocating drive system moves a body of defined inertia, such as a carriage supporting electrostatic spraying means, at full speed between two points at which the direction of movement is reversed. The drive system includes an electric motor with polyphase stator windings and a squirrel cage rotor. Transducers responsive to the arrival of the moving body at the aforementioned points produce output signals controlling a phase switching system which reverses the direction of rotation of the motor. Reversal of the motor torque reverses the direction of movement of the moving body within a given travel and within a given time interval to full speed in the opposite direction. A stator current limiter provides positive coupling in an operative condition and no coupling in an inoperative condition with the motor running at full speed. The motor is selected so that the inertia of its rotor closely matches that of the moving body. The current limiting means are arranged to be in the operative condition irrespective of the position of the moving body.

    摘要: An electrostatic powder spraying apparatus that includes a nonrotating disk-like member having an edge; the electrostatic field extends between the edge of disk and articles to be coated. A first means of the apparatus deflects powder radially outwardly into a chamber. The chamber is adjacent the first means and provides space in which tangential streams impart a spiral motion or whirling cyclone-type motion to the radially deflected powder. An apertured means is spaced from the non-rotating disk-like member. The spiral motion of entrained powder moves it outwardly along the surface of the non-rotating disk-like member and causes air to be aspirated through the aperture to mix with the powder moving radially outwardly along the surface of the disk-like member. By this means the powder is given sufficient momentum to be ejected from the edge of the disk to the vicinity of an article at a powder attracting potential where the electrostatic field forces can guide the charged powder to the article.
