A thermal insulation batt is created from recycled carpet fibers and fire resistant cotton shoddy bonded by staples of bi-component fiber having a polyester core and low melting polymeric sheath. The low melting polymeric sheath melts at a temperature well below the melting or degradation temperature of any of the carpet fibers from the recycled carpets. Since the sheath has a small thickness, the amount of melt created is small and bonding occurs only between the bi-component staple fiber and adjacent carpet fiber or fire resistant cotton shoddy without melt overflow. The rigidized thermal insulation batt can be used in a building between studs and may be used in an automobile door for sound proofing. This product is particularly well suited for use as acoustic and thermal insulation in buildings as “non-load bearing” partitions in interior offices of commercial buildings. This bonded low density composite fibrous structure has fire retarding constituents incorporated within the batt to retard propagation of building fire. These stated uses are non-limiting; and other uses are contemplated, including automobile interior structures.

The carpet material includes fibres containing nylon bound to a backing containing one or more non-nylon components. The carpet material contains between 15 and 35 wt. % of the nylon. The process includes: a) mechanically separating the carpet material into an enriched carpet mixture containing between 35 and 55 wt. % of said nylon and into a depleted carpet mixture having a lower content of nylon than the carpet material; and b) exposing the enriched carpet mixture to conditions at which depolymerization of the nylon is effected.

There is provided a method for recycling synthetic wood materials, transformed into materials through a relatively simple method without performing elimination of encrusted concrete from a previously used sheathing board for use in a concrete form having synthetic wood materials as raw materials. The method consists of a step wherein a sheathing board 1 (1a) which had been previously used as a concrete form 50 and formed from synthetic wood materials with a moisture content of less than 15 wt %, wherein between 20 and 75 wt % of cellulose crushed materials, such as wood meal with particle diameters of between 50 and 200 μm, and between 25 and 80 wt % of thermoplastic resin molding materials, are mixed, is crushed into numerous coated particles 82, and a step wherein a scraping impact force is applied to each individual coated particle 82, concrete and other encrusted materials encrusted on the previously mentioned coated particles 82 are peeled or separated, and at the same time as the synthetic wood materials constituting the coated particles 82 and the encrusted materials are classified, the particles of the synthetic wood materials are granulated, and the granulated synthetic wood meal materials 83 for which the particles have been granulated are recycled.

There are provided a method and a facility for separating and recovering a steel pipe and a covering resin in a resin-covered steel pipe, which do not produce cuttings of the steel pipe and which make it possible to continuously operate the facility. The method comprises the steps of using a cut line forming means installed forwardly of the position that a high frequency induction coil passes, so as to form a cut line extending from the surface of the resin-covered steel pipe toward the steel pipe, deep enough to reach the surface of the steel pipe from the surface of the covering resin, throughout the length of the resin-covered steel pipe, circumferentially dividing the covering resin into at least two parts, heating the steel pipe by high frequency induction heating, in the position of a separating device disposed at a suitable position immediately after the passage of the position of the high frequency induction coil, to the extent the boundary between the covering resin and the steel pipe assumes the state for the release of the covering resin from the steel pipe, and cutting each covering resin into at least two parts along the cut line and toward the outside of the steel pipe by the separating device while releasing and separating it from the steel pipe.

A process for manufacturing structures from worn out tires and a parking stop made by that process. Sidewalls are cut from the tire leaving a circular strip, which is cut transversely to produce an elongated approximately rectangular strip. Spaced slits are cut into the long edges of the strips to form slats suitable for use in manufacturing structures. Two slats are bonded together in a face-to-face arrangement to form a unitary pair of bonded slats. Additional pairs of slats are then bonded to the first pair of slats. All slats are bonded with similar sides in contact; that is, tread side to tread side or inside to inside. The resulting beam can have adjacent corners removed to provide a parking stop configuration. Preferably, the slats are bonded with an elastomer or mechanical fasteners such as ring nails or staples. A thick elastomer, having a thickness of at least about ⅛ inch may be coated over the beam. Beams may be combined to form guard rails, walls, panels, etc.

A method of reclaiming rubber from vehicle tyres that enables the high grade rubber in the tread portion of the tire to be collected separate from the lower grade rubber in the sidewalls and other areas of the tire. The method comprising separating the complete tread portion from the remainder of the tire and then removing from that tread portion the high grade tread rubber. Thereafter the remainder of the tread portion and the sidewall and bead portion of the tire are each treated to separate the rubber from metallic and fabric reinforcement materials therein. The high quality tread rubber and lower grade other rubber are both removed in a particulate form.
