摘要: A through-the-road (TTR) hybridization strategy is proposed to facilitate introducing hybrid electric vehicle technology in a significant portion of current and expected trucking fleets. In some cases, the technologies can be retrofitted onto an existing vehicle (e.g., a trailer, a tractor-trailer configuration, etc.). In some cases, the technologies can be built into new vehicles. In some cases, one vehicle may be built or retrofitted to operate in tandem with another and provide the hybridization benefits contemplated herein. By supplementing motive forces delivered through a primary drivetrain and fuel-fed engine with supplemental torque delivered at one or more electrically-powered drive axles, improvements in overall fuel efficiency and performance may be delivered, typically without significant redesign of existing components and systems that have been proven in the trucking industry.

摘要: A vehicle is proposed to control regeneration and reuse of captured energy in a through-the-road hybrid configuration. The vehicle comprises a vehicle frame, an energy store, and a controller. The vehicle frame is configured for over-the-roadway travel under a power of plural drive axles. At least one of the plural drive axles is coupled via a primary drivetrain to a fuel-fed engine to drive at least a pair of wheels. At least one other of the plural drive axles is an electrically-powered drive axle configured to supply supplemental torque to additional wheels. The energy store is configured to supply the electrically-powered drive axle with electrical power in a first mode of operation and receive energy recovered using the electrically-powered drive axle in a second mode of operation. The controller is coupled between the electrically-powered drive axle and one or more sensor inputs to transition between different modes of operation.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include an apparatus comprising, a charge-storage unit, an electromotor coupled to the charge-storage unit, wherein, at least a portion of the power supplied to the electromotor is supplied by the charge-storage unit. The apparatus may further include, a movable portion powered by the electromotor, a housing coupled to the electromotor, and a handle coupled to the housing, the handle being physically configured to, when, in operation, couple to an external entity to whom motion assistance is to be provided. The external entity may be a vehicle although other objects may be used.

摘要: A plurality of prongs of a connector box and a plurality of receptacles of a receptor box are electrically connected by mating each respectable pairs together. The boxes are coupled by a mechanical leveraged maneuver. The connecting device then connects vehicular circuits of an electric vehicle including those for auxiliary equipment to a battery-carrying trailer which is to be mechanically attached thereto and allows the electric vehicle to either extend its range, or be rescued from power shortage by electricity supplied by other than batteries onboard therein. The connecting device has a safety mechanism for preventing accidental separation of an electric connection, and for protecting operators from receiving electrical shock.

摘要: An electrically-powered vehicle having a combination automobile frame and trailer, which are driven by a pair of electric motors located on the automobile frame. A battery is also located on the automobile frame, and a generator, along with a gas turbine for driving the generator, are located on the trailer. The vehicle can be operated with the trailer attached and the electric motors powered by a parallel combination of the battery and generator, or with the trailer removed and the motors powered by the battery alone. A controller turns on the gas turbine when the charge level in the battery drops below a first predetermined level and turns off the turbine when the charge level rises above a second predetermined level. Additionally, when the gas turbine is operating, its speed is maintained at a constant level, thereby maximizing its operating efficiency and yielding a minimum level of exhaust pollution.
