Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing an emotional human-machine interface (HMI). A vehicle may comprise a display for presenting an emotional HMI. The emotional HMI may be determined by determining a first occupant of the vehicle, collecting first biometric data for the first occupant using at least the one or more sensors, determining, using an emotion engine of the vehicle, a first emotional state of the first occupant, determining a second occupant of the vehicle, determining, using the emotion engine of the vehicle, a second emotional state of the second occupant, and determining a graphical interface comprising at least a first color scheme based at least in part on the first emotional state and a second color scheme based at least in part on the second emotional state.

Abstract: Techniques for interacting with authorized and unauthorized users by a door interface component are discussed herein. A vehicle computing device can implement the door interface component and/or an authentication component to control operation of a door of the vehicle or initiate a communication for assistance. For instance, the door interface component can include a button, that provides different visual indicators and functionality based on whether the user is authorized to enter the autonomous vehicle (e.g., open a door or provide visual indicators for the user to select to cause the door to open) or to request to move the vehicle, initiate hiring the vehicle, or call for help when the user is unauthorized to enter the autonomous vehicle.

Abstract: A test system for detecting impairment aboard a motor vehicle includes an electronic control unit (ECU) and sensors in communication therewith. The sensors are positioned within a vehicle interior, and include at least a touch screen and a microphone, and possibly an eye-tracking camera. In response to receiving a start request indicative of a requested start event of the motor vehicle, the ECU executes instructions to initiate a cognitive response test via the sensors. The ECU determines a test score of a driver during the test while the motor vehicle remains off, compares the test score to baseline scores to determine a passing or failing test result, and executes a control action aboard the motor vehicle in response to the passing or failing test result. The ECU may disable or immobilize the motor vehicle in response to the failing test result.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a forward viewing camera that views forward through the vehicle windshield and a control including an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, (i) at least one road characteristic of a road along which the vehicle is traveling is detected, (ii) other vehicles exterior the vehicle are detected, and (iii) road curvature of the road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined. Data derived at least in part from captured image data and at least in part relevant to a current geographic location of the vehicle is wirelessly communicated from the vehicle to a remote data receiver located remote from the vehicle. Based at least in part on image data processed by the image processor, speed of the vehicle is controlled.
